ST. MARY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION Dear Parishioners: Today, we celebrate the great Solemnity of Pentecost, which culminates the season of Easter and sends us into summer re-charged with the power of the Holy Spirit in mission, Here is a prayer that we can all lift up, as individuals and as families: O Lord Jesus Christ, Who, before ascending into heaven, did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples, deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me that He may perfect in my soul, the work of Your grace and Your love. Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom that I may despise the perishable things of this world and aspire only after the things that are eternal, the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind with the light of Your divine truth, the Spirit of Counsel that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining heaven, the Spirit of Fortitude that I may bear my cross with You and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation, the Spirit of Knowledge that I may know God and know myself and grow perfect in the science of the Saints, the Spirit of Piety that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable, and the Spirit of Fear that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God and may dread in any way to displease Him. Mark me, dear Lord, with the sign of Your true disciples and animate me in all things with Your Spirit. Amen. My heart is very full, given the tremendous outpouring of love and celebration I experienced within the last week. My thanks to all who put so much heart in the planning and celebration of my silver jubilee. We will soon have the final figures on the proceeds of the concert and will report what will be shared between the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, the Gabriel Project, and the Wooster Hope Center. School has ended for the year, but that does not mean that we are in any way in sleep mode. Not only do the physical classrooms receive a thorough cleaning during the next months. Staff of the Pre-school as well as the Kindergarten- 8th. Grade programs will be availing themselves to enrichment, and some new staff members will be planning in anticipation of the future academic year. My thanks to all the staff, with particular mention of our Principal, Mrs. Laura Marvin, as she completes her first year of leadership in the building. There has been great progress as well as substantial challenges. You have handled all with professionalism and grace. I want to remind everyone that next weekend is Fr. Joe s final weekend here at St. Mary before he begins his new assignment of leadership in Bedford. There will be a reception for Fr. Joe after the 10 a.m. Mass. ST. MARY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION WOOSTER, OH GRATEFUL GIVING REFLECTION: RESOLUTIONS Each year, people throughout the world make New Year s resolutions. For many, these resolutions are short lived and quickly forgotten. At our Baptism and Confirmation, we made New Life resolutions. Our baptismal promises are lifelong commitments to Jesus and the Church. We recognize that all that we possess comes from God. We are God s stewards. We have been empowered to manage the abundant gifts that we have received. As good stewards, it is our responsibility to give back a portion of the time, talent and treasure we receive from our generous and loving God. Let us recommit ourselves to the Lord by taking the time to plan. Let us make stewardship of time and talent part of our lifestyle, and stewardship of treasure part of our budget. Each must do as already determined, without sadness or compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:7) GRATEFUL GIVING PROGRAM UPDATE Follow-up letters from Fr. Stephen will be mailed to all households from whom we have not yet received a response to our Grateful Giving Program.
