Please It is amazing that the Spring Walks have come and gone. A special thank you goes out to the Leadership Teams of both Walks and everyone that worked in the background. In addition, thank you for sending the amazing pilgrims. HOW- EVER, now is not the time to relax!! The Fall Walks will be upon us very soon. Is it your time to Team or send a pilgrim? We always say on the Eastern Shore; pray, pray and then pray some more about it. It has been an exciting four months as Lay Director of our wonderful Emmaus community. We as a community are blessed to have such a large group of members with a servant s attitude that are willing to serve the community in many different areas of ministry. Just like many groups, we too have challenges that face us, but we have an AWESOME GOD to lean upon. Rex Mayfield Community Lay Director
Page 2 A Message From Our Spiritual Director I am fresh off the women s walk, ES103. My heart is burning within me, and I am reminded of why I love the Walk to Emmaus so much! First, I love Emmaus because of LOVE. There is nothing else in the world as wonderful as the agape love of Christ our Lord! We are quite familiar with the new commandment to love each other as Christ has loved us. On this past weekend, that love was at the very center of our faith and our experience. Sadly, that is not always the case for many of us Christians. We allow other things to take center place in our faith, many of which are very good things: stands on moral issues, theological emphases, understandings of the sacraments, and so forth. These things, as important as they may be, are just as likely to divide us as they are to unite us, and they don t provide healing or wholeness. Love, Jesus reminds us, is the tell tale mark that we follow Him. That love flowed in abundance this weekend, and left joy, healing, wholeness, and unity in its wake. Secondly, servanthood is in full operation on an Emmaus weekend. We saw that in full swing this weekend, as the team and the community served selflessly in so many ways. It was a beautiful thing to see the pilgrims serving each other in powerful ways as well. Thirdly, Emmaus provides a unique setting for encountering Jesus in new and powerful ways. On Thursday evening of this past weekend, before the pilgrims began to arrive, I sat at the outdoor chapel and waited before the Lord. His presence was so sweet that I could only cry. All throughout the weekend, Jesus showed up in tender and powerful ways to remind all of us that it is all about HIM! The very good news is that we can walk in this way all the time! Opportunities to love and serve are all around us, and Jesus is present all the time, everywhere. Alleluia!! Pastor Travis DeLoach
Page 3 Eastern Shore Chrysalis Fly With Christ! What is God s plan for our Chrysalis community? We continue to pray for God to make His way clear to us and ask that you join us in that prayer. We have a heart for youth and want to guide them in their understanding of God and commitment to Him. Chrysalis is an experience similar to Emmaus for youth 15-18 years of age, full of laughter and tears, singing and fellowship, learning and reflection. We continue to offer our flights, once a year in November, and are willing and able to send any youth to Tidewater Chrysalis if need be. Tidewater flights are in January. PLEASE, if you know of a youth who might be interested, just let one of the board members know. We would love to talk to you and your youth. Fly with Christ, Susan Gibb Chrysalis Board

Page 8 Prayer Chain As I was looking for something profound and thought provoking to share this month, it struck me that once again I was making things way too complicated. It seems like that s what we do in so many facets of our lives, including our struggles. When all we really need to do is step back, take a breath, say a prayer, and remember. Remember that on a day to day basis that there is nothing that can happen to us that the Lord has not prepared a way for. There are no trials or obstacles that He will not strengthen us to face. With that simple thought in mind, I d like to invite you to join the Emmaus Prayer Team. If you d like to receive e-mails or have a prayer request, the address to remember is EmmausPrayerTeam@gmail.com.
