1 Missouri East Chrysalis Newsletter Winter 2005 A NEW YEAR May God's grace be with you in the new year! The first flights of '05 are almost here. Your prayers are needed for the teams and the caterpillars. My prayers are with you as you are recruiting caterpillars right now. We experienced God's love in a great way on our flights/ walks. Now we have the greater opportunity to be God's love for others as we serve. I hope to see you at one of the closings next month. By David Webster, Spiritual Director By Mike Sinn, Community Lay Director It s hard to believe that coming up on February 19-21, Flight 39 for girls and two weeks later, on March 4-6, Flight 40 for boys will take place. The teams are meeting and praying for the caterpillars that will be coming to these flights. A new year is upon us and we rejoice in all that has happened in the past on our Flights and Journeys. Last year there were four Chrysalis Flights and in the fall we held Journeys 5 and 6. We had 16 young women and 9 young men on those Journeys and everyone involved was blessed to be a part of them. As your new Community Lay Director, I feel a sense of awe and respect for all those that have come before us. The blessings that each of us have received by serving on teams, being caterpillars transformed into beautiful butterflies, or sponsoring someone is just beyond what can be put into words. Pause a moment and close your eyes and reflect on your Chrysalis or Journey experience. I mean it stop whatever you are doing, close your eyes for a moment and give thanks for all God has given you. Remember some of the joys you have had by being on or around a Chrysalis. Did you do it? Did you feel the love again? Did you sense the joy, the peace, the wonder of God? Are you ready to sense that again? If you said yes, I want to feel that again, then come be a part of Chrysalis 39 and 40. You could be a part of the 72 hour prayer vigil, participate in the Jesus Fest or attend Apostolic Hour and Candlelight. You could help with clean-up or come to closing. More importantly, you could pray for God to show you a caterpillar that would be blessed like you were and you could sponsor them to be on one of these flights. Chrysalis needs your involvement, right where you are. Please hold our teams in your prayers, and pray for the caterpillars that are coming. Elsewhere in this newsletter, you will find the names of our current board members, their responsibilities and contact information. 2 You Are Invited Chrysalis Hoot Flight 37 & Flight 38 Reunion Sat April 9, :00 pm Christ Community Church, Columbia Illinois The afternoon will include Next Steps talks, the opportunity to be part of the Emmaus Gut Bucket Band, Apostolic Hour, and Candlelight for Emmaus Women s Walk # 102 And plenty of Food, Fun, and Fellowship! Please join us to renew old friendships and to make some new ones Directions: to Christ Community Church Coming from the North or West: Take I-270 South. Stay on I-270 until you see signs I-255 East Illinois/ Chicago & take I-255 across the Mississippi River. Take the first exit to the right Exit 6 Go straight for 5 lights. At 5 th light turn right on Gall. You will see the Christ Community Church on top of the hill. Coming from the South: Stay on I-55 North until you see the sign that says I-255 East Illinois/Chicago & take I-255 across the Mississippi River. Proceed as above from there. Jesus Fest The Butterfly Band (which leads the music for the Jesus Fest) needs you! If you play a musical instrument and would like to play with the Butterfly Band in the upcoming flights, please show up with your instrument at 3:45pm on Day 2 of the Chrysalis Flight, in the dining room at the Revive Us Again Center. This will be the rehearsal time for the Butterfly band from here on out. Depending on the number of musicians that show up, you may not be able to play if we have a lot of musicians. However, you will get to play in the next Jesus Fest if this occurs. We will make every effort to include everyone that shows up. The 72- hour Prayer Vigil is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of the Chrysalis weekend and means so much to the caterpillars and team. Your help is needed to make the Prayer Vigil a success. EPHESIANS 1:18, 19a Clown Ministry Do you remember the Clown Service on your flight? Well, it is a very important ministry during the Chrysalis Flight weekend. Some of you have been a clown and all of us in the Chrysalis Community really appreciate your service. Some of you may have thought about being a clown and maybe wonder what is involved. Well here it is in a nut shell. Chrysalis community members (guys or gals) can become clowns. Because it is an important and special service the Chrysalis Board member in charge of clowns, Janet McFarland, likes to have a rotating schedule. Meaning that there is at least one person in the group that has been a clown before. Everyone is invited to sign up to be a clown by either: ing Janet at jmcfar03@hotmail.com or calling at (573) Take a look at the dates coming up this year and see if you are available to serve in this special ministry. Please remember that the service is on the second day and you need to be available to be at Revive Us Again Retreat Center by 11:30 ready to get dressed, practice and be prayed in before the scheduled time of the service. If this sounds like something you are interested in please contact Janet. If there is a group of you interested that is great too. Now is the time to let Janet know you are interested. Teams are already being formed for the Flights and soon Clowns will need to be identified for each of those Flights. So, if you have your own costume or not please consider this great way of serving others.
