Psalm Lord, let us see your kindness, and grant us your salvation (Psalm 85). Second Reading Conduct yourselves in holiness, hastening the coming of the day of God (2 Peter 3:8-14). Gospel I have baptized you with water; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit (Mark 1:1-8). GOD HAS A DIFFERENT PLAN We begin the season of Advent with a heartfelt call for our own repentance. We remember God s faithful love for us, and call upon God to help us to turn back. For behold, you are angry, and we are sinful (Isaiah 64:4). In the irst reading and in the psalm, we recall God s promises and lament our unfaithfulness and our guilt. We call upon God s might and power in order to save us. With Isaiah, we ask God to rend the heavens and come down, / with the mountains quaking before you (Isaiah 63:19). Yes, God is faithful to us, because we are the work of God s hands. God is the potter, we are the clay. And yet, our concept of how God will come to save us is rooted in our own expectations of a warrior God who crushes mountains and thunders into our lives with great noise and glory. But God has a different plan: the Incarnation. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. Dear Parishioners, As was announced at Masses on November 18/19, January will bring a new stage in my ministry as a pastoral associate. At the end of December, I ll be leaving St. Julia s for the Sacred Heart & Our Lady s Collaborative in Newton. My final weekend at Masses will be on Epiphany weekend, January 6/7. In Newton I will be the Pastoral Associate for Adult Faith Formation, running Alpha and small groups, as well as spearheading outreach to young adults and young families. I will also be working with the Social Justice Committee, which is sponsoring a refugee family, so I am glad to be able to continue that outreach which I have been so proud to have seen you all do on behalf of refugees in our midst. Even though I am excited about my new adventures, it is difficult to leave our wonderful community. You took a chance on me, a young woman just out of graduate school and with little parish experience; but I think we got on swimmingly right from the start! I ll never forget the ways that you welcomed me and showed me the ropes. I ve made genuine friendships here, and have enjoyed getting to know you all. You ve taught me more than you could know about what it means to be a disciple of Jesus and a lay professional in ministry. Your kindness, generosity and hospitality will always stay with me. Yours in Christ Jesus, Andrea Jackson

THE CHRISTMAS POPS CONCERT AND SING ALONG will be held on Sunday, December 17 at 3 pm in the Parish Hall. Please join us to celebrate the spirit of Christmas through song and music. This is a wonderful program for all ages. Everyone welcome! Refreshments will be served.
