Jacob s Well Family, The mission statement of our church is Life in Christ :: Christ in Life which means that we find all of our life in Jesus Christ, and we seek to bring Jesus Christ into all of our life. As a part of bringing Jesus Christ into all of our life it means that we are seeking to reach out to Green Bay and beyond with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In order to do this the elders have identified three major tactics. Tactic 1 Growing the evangelistic climate of our church. o We are pursuing this through the study of the book of Acts and offering The Journey evangelism training in small groups and other venues. o We also have plans in 2017 to establish a committee that will continue to evaluate and promote the evangelistic culture of our church. Tactic 2 Planting churches in Green Bay and beyond. o Our goal established in 2010 was to plant two churches by 2020. So far the LORD had blessed us to plant one church in Appleton (Emmaus Road). o Church Planting has been proven to be the most effective way to grow Christ s Kingdom both in width (numbers) and depth (discipleship). o To read more about the importance and effectiveness of church planting, please visit the following website to read an article by Tim Keller http://storage.cloversites.com/jacobswell/documents/why%20plant%20churches.pdf 1

Tactic 3 Acquiring a physical church building. o Our goal established in 2010 was to acquire a church building by 2017. o While a building is not necessary for our church (as we have all experienced), we believe a building does provide certain benefits. A building protects the permanence and longevity of our church. A building supports the legitimacy of our ministry to the community. A building provides space for the ministries of our church to flourish. A building allows us to bless the community as we share it with them. A building can be utilized as a resource for future church plants. In our efforts to acquire a permanent church building, we have (for many years) sought out to purchase an existing building, however during these years no sufficient building has ever presented itself. For this reason, we purchased land on Woodfield Ct. in the hopes of building a new facility. In moving forward, many long hours were spent with architects (i.e.pastor Chad Baudhuin and the building committee), to design a building that would fit our needs. As a product of that time, the architects created a building that would cost $3.5-$4 million. Considering the high cost of new construction, the elders have been praying and seeking how we can be faithful to the vision the LORD has given to us. Our struggle was that tactic 2 (planting churches) and tactic 3 (acquiring a building) were in direct competition for the financial resources of our church. As a result, it seemed imminent that we would have to pursue one of these tactics while delaying the other for an unknown period of time. But then the LORD presented us with another opportunity and that is what we are very excited to share with you today. The elders were made aware that Life Church North Campus (formerly Heartland Church) may be available for purchase. After much prayer, many conversations and a tour of the facility, the elders unanimously support the purchase of this building for $1.2 million as the future home of Jacob s Well church. We believe the price point of this property would allow us to accomplish both tactic 2 (planting churches) and tactic 3 (acquiring a building) in the timeframe the LORD placed on our heart back in 2010. If the purchase of this building 2

is approved by our congregation, it would be our sincere endeavor to plant another gospel centered, expository preaching church on the east side of Green Bay in the next two years. Currently, we have an accepted offer to purchase this facility (at 3340 Lineville Rd) along with the land and the majority of its contents for $1.2million (this is less than 1/3 the cost of constructing a new building). This accepted offer has three contingencies. 1. Approval of our congregation. 2. Financing (which we are confident we can acquire) 3. Satisfactory inspections (well, septic, building, etc.) a. Note: This building is only 8 years old. Pictures on page 8. The Jacob s Well Session (which is composed of our elders) is calling a Congregational Meeting for Sunday, October 30 th after church. The purpose is to vote on the following two motions. i. Motion #1: To purchase the Life Church North building (formerly known as Heartland Church), located at 3340 Lineville Rd. Green Bay WI 54313 for $1.2 million. ii. Motion #2: To give authority to the elders to sell the property owned by Jacob s Well, located on Woodfield Ct. in Howard WI. 3

A Couple Other Important Notes 1. Expansion An attractive feature of purchasing this property is that we would possess plenty of land to expand the building if needed. This is where the hard work of our building committee would be utilized to add on the features we determined to be most important to the life and mission of our church. 2. Location The new building is located 2.5 miles from Bayview Middle School (our current location.)* a. If you currently take 43 North to get to church (i.e. the East Side), it is one minute longer to get to the proposed church building (at 3340 Lineville Rd) than it does to get to Bayview Middle School.* b. If you currently take 41 North to get to church (i.e. DePere), it will take an additional 2 minutes to get to the proposed church building than it does to get to Bayview Middle School. (Taking 29 West to FF)* * According to Google Maps (See page 6 & 7 for maps) 3. Church Planting - As stated earlier, with the purchase of this building, the elders would seek to plant a church on the East Side of Green Bay within the next two years. While every church personality is unique, this plant would have the same three emphases of Gospel-Centered, Expository Preaching and Spiritual Intimacy. 4. Financing - Purchasing this building for $1.2 million would provide a mortgage and maintenance that would be attainable for our congregation (Approximately 1/7 th of our operating budget). In addition, we would hope to pay off more, if not all, of the mortgage through selling our existing property (for around $250k) and through a capital campaign. Paying off the building would allow us to use more of our resources to plant churches, expand the building and provide more staffing. 5. Timing If the congregation supports the purchase of this building, we hope to be holding services in there by Thanksgiving. 4

Next Steps 1. Pray Prayer is not lip service, but the practice of a needy people who have a perfect and loving God. a. Pray for clarity on this decision for our congregation. b. Above all, pray for unity in our church. That while we may have different opinions about these motions, that our hearts would stay united in our love for one another and for Jesus Christ. 2. Tour & Listen We will be setting up three opportunities for you to tour the building and hear a more in depth presentation. 3. Ask Questions Questions are encouraged. A time of Q&A will be offered after each of the tours and presentations, but as always, please feel free at any time to ask questions to Pastor Dan, Pastor Chad or any of the other elders (Mark Kaiser, Jeff Frick, Ron Jung, Ryan Froelich) 4. Speak & Vote At the congregational meeting on October 30 th, you will have the opportunity to speak for, or against, each of the two motions. a. If you are wishing to speak against the motions, we ask that you first speak with one of the pastors or elders to see if we can answer any questions prior to the congregational meeting. Final Note: The elders are very excited about the prospect of purchasing this building as we seek to extend Christ s Kingdom by being open handed with our resources, not only to plant another church in the next 2 years, but 3 more churches over the next 12 years. Pray for our church, pray for our leaders, and above all, pray that God s will, will be done. Eph 3:20-21 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, (21) to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Note: Please See Pictures on Following Pages) In Christ, The Jacob s Well Session 5
