6th Sunday of Easter Page 3 Summary: Parish Council Minutes for January 9, 2018, meeting 1. Opening prayer Father Nick led the opening prayer. 2. Roll Call excused, Dennis Kellner & Teresa Torres; absent, Jim McGann, Peter Estrada. 3. Approval of Minutes Maureen Cool moved, Debbie Augusta 2 nd ; unanimous approval. 4. Old Business: Pastor s Report It has been a busy social season with the Ladies Guild Rummage Sale; the Valentine s dance; the Tour of Tables; the Widowers dinner; the forthcoming Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament all highly successful, thanks to great leadership and support. Close to 3,000 parishioners attended Ash Wednesday Masses, which included mass in APCI prison and a special service at 12 noon at Florida Hospital. Many who are not Catholic attended the service at Florida Hospital and took ashes. We are having a good attendance at daily Lent masses and at the Stations of the Cross. Grades K 5 have Stations of the Cross on Sunday mornings; the High School students are preparing to present the Living Stations of the Cross on Good Friday. There are forthcoming Women s Retreats in English and Spanish and a Parish retreat in Spanish. Finance Ministry Report The 3 nd quarter report will be presented by Betty Partridge, chair, at the May 8th meeting. The 2018 CFA goal is $111,000. To date, we received $105,000 in pledges & donations. OLG investment account shows substantial increase. Religious Education Report 290 enrolled K 12. Grade school had first penance interviews and penance service. The Christmas Pageant was well attended. Getting ready for Lent with Rice Bowls. Family masses continue on 1st Sunday of the month. Bldg. & Maintenance Dennis Kellner reported need for new carpet in church. New Lawn Care Service under review. Waiting on Diocesan insurance to complete hurricane damage to church sign & rectory roof. Mulching contract being reviewed. Technology & Communications Screen to be replaced in Grogan Center. Projector updated and improved. Website updated by Judy Pounds & Dennis Kellner. Community Life Karen Hecker reported on Community Life ministries: Church Service Center Still functioning out of shed behind old bldg. Store food in storage provided by Methodist Church. Distributes large quantities of Government food & food from local churches and public schools. CSC is not distributing clothing since Irma. Meals on Wheels deliver 100 meals per week. Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners were delivered. Most numerous volunteers from OLG, many are winter residents. K of C Corporate Communion breakfast in December; 55 inch TV donated, proceeds donated to Choices. Hosted 150 children from Boys and Girls Club for Christmas Lunch & gifts. Will sponsor Widow and Widowers dinner in January. Hispanic Ministry Report - 1400 attended Guadalupe Mass & Festivities afterwards. Great success. $1,734 donated to scholarship fund in memory of Humberto Ramirez. OLG Ladies Guild Report events included annual well attended Christmas lunch; preparing for Rummage Sale, Tour of Tables and Quarter Extravaganza. Bereavement John Wolbert ready to start new sessions on Tuesday afternoons. Social Committee preparing for Valentine Dinner-dance & OLG Golf Tournament. Closing Prayer adjournment & next meeting Tues, May 8th, 6 p.m. Grogan Center.

Page 4 Our Lady of Grace The Church Service Center (CSC) Food collection Thank you bringing non-perishable food to Church today for the Church Service Center. The CSC takes care of in excess of 600 families every month, representing between 1,200 and 1,500 poor people in Avon Park. We will take a second collection after communion to assist those who come to the CSC with electric and water bills and with rent and mortgage payments. The Feast of Ascension has been transferred to Sunday, May 13 th The Feast of Ascension, which would normally be celebrated on Thursday of this week, has been transferred to next Sunday. Congratulations First Communion Class First Communion children, their families and friends are invited to the Grogan Center immediately after Mass for a First Communion Luncheon prepared by OLG Ladies Guild. Group photo of the First Communion Class will be taken in the Grogan Center immediately after Mass. There will also be an opportunity to have individual photos of the First Communicants. Senior High School Graduates Mass Sunday, May 13th, 10:30 a.m. OLG High School senior graduates who attend Avon Park, Sebring and Frostproof high schools are invited with their families and friends to a special Graduates Mass on Sunday, May 13 h, at 10:30 a.m. and to breakfast immediately after Mass in the Grogan Center. We ask the graduates to call the parish office to let us know how many will be in your party by Wednesday this week OLG Scholarship awards will be presented at the Graduates Mass by a member of the scholarship committee.

6th Sunday of Easter Page 5 K of C Breakfast/Brunch Sunday, May 13th 8 a.m. 12 noon Grogan Center The Knights of Columbus will serve its final breakfast/brunch until the fall on Sunday, May 13 th in the Grogan Center from 8 a.m. until 12 noon. George and Anna Karamitis join Terry and Dale O Leary and Don and Julie Johnston at the appreciation dinner. We are extremely grateful to the Knights for providing a very full breakfast/ brunch on the first Sunday of every month. They do so to help parishioners to come to know one another. Come and bring your friends next Sunday. Breakfast costs $7 per person and children under 12 eat free. OLG Parish Appreciation Dinner 100 parishioners turned out for a pleasant and most enjoyable OLG Parish end of the year appreciation dinner in the Grogan Center on Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. in the Grogan Center. Father Nick thanks ministers for their ministry. We thank members of the Ladies Guild and the Knights of Columbus who served a dinner catered by John Hill of the Depot Restaurant.
