They spread rapidly across the country with thousands attending every year. Our camp meeting was started by some of the early leaders in this movement. The expressed purpose of these camp meetings was the preaching and teaching of scriptural Holiness. This is why the Avon Park Holiness camp meeting exists. My prayer is that we will never waver or detour from our stated purpose. The greatest need in the church today is for believers to surrender all to Christ, have their hearts cleansed from all sin and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Begin to pray now that this message will be proclaimed with clarity and conviction at our 2018 camp meeting. I thank the Lord, and each of you who gave of yourselves and your finances to extend the outreach of Avon Park Camp Meeting Association. I, personally, was also blessed and encouraged in each Thursday morning Prayer Fellowship time before and after Camp Meeting. It is becoming so quiet on the grounds with the exodus of our dear friends who make the camp come alive each year. Thank you for providing, praying for the camp and for encouraging and standing with the Administration, who seek Godâ s will for the camp. I could worry about the months ahead and the monthly $10,000 that is needed to cover the basic expenses of the camp, but I do have confidence in our Lord and in each of us who love the camp to provide. MISSIONARY CHURCH DAY Missionary Church Day is undergoing a complete renovation. Next year's date is Wednesday, February 7. Following the morning service the group will move to an off-site location for lunch and a program. Get this date on your calender NOW! CAMP MEETING 2018 We are looking forward to the 79th annual Avon Park Holiness Camp Meeting from Sunday, February 4, through Sunday, February 11, 2018. You will notice that this is a shorter Camp Meeting than we have had in the past. Please be encouraged to get your reservations in early, as those who only come for part of Camp Meeting will have fewer available openings for lodging. This change will help those who serve and those who attend avoid the fatigue we often feel at the end of ten days. It will also help us continue to bring in the high calibre of evangelists our tradition demands. Instead of two weekends, our leadership team will only need to be away from home or their pulpit for one weekend. Dr. Hermiz will open the camp on Sunday evening. Monday, as usual, will be MISSIONARY DAY. Tuesday will begin our schedule of Morning Magnification at 7:00 am, Bible Study at 9:00 am, Morning Service at 10:30 am, and Evening Service at 7:00 pm. That was not a mistake! The evening service has been moved up to 7:00 pm so you will have more time to enjoy your snacks at the Fellowship Cafe. Two changes will make the 7:00 pm service possible: Supper will be served cafeteria style rather than family style beginning at 4:45 pm, and Missionary Moments will move to 6:15 pm. Breakfast will again be available in Fellowship Cafe beginning at 7:00 am. Scheduled Preaching Evangelists are Dr. Nelson Perdue and Dr. J. K. Warrick, with Bible Teacher Dr. Christopher Bounds and Mike and Denise Cork, song evangelists. The Strange Preacher's Kid - Dr David Jeremiah, Guest Author 1 Corinthians 13:6a [Love] does not rejoice in iniquity. WHEN NOT TO REJOICE When we rejoice in the iniquity, sin, failure, or misfortune of another person, we have ceased to love as God loves. The apostle Paul wrote that true love â œdoes not rejoice in iniquity.â Why? Two reasons: First, sin is a grievous thing whenever it is committed or revealed. Sin should produce compassion and empathy on our part. We should hope that sin will be overcome and that the person will discover Godâ s grace and forgiveness. Second, true love always seeks and wants the best for other people. We should â œrejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weepâ (Romans 12:15). But we should never rejoice over someoneâ s failure or sin. When you learn of someoneâ s failure, do what you can to love and encourage that person toward the forgiveness and grace of God. -- Dr. David Jeremiah, Turning Point
