Order of Worship 11:00 a.m. October 15, 2017 ~ Gathering before the Word ~ Prelude Beach Spring The Sacred Harp, 1844 Welcome & Service of Friendship Pastor Darryl Evans *Call to Worship O God, you are our God; eagerly we seek you. Our souls thirst for you, our flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land, where there is no water. *Hymn of Praise No. 667 Christ, Whose Glory Fills the Skies *Prayer of Confession Patient God, How trying we must be. You have told us, You have shown us, You have come among us. Still, we look away, ignoring, forgetting, rejecting Your purposes for us. Have mercy on us. Forgive us for what we have done, and for what we have not done. Tell us again. Show us again. With grace anew, come among us again, so that we might start fresh, and receive the life you have given us in Jesus Christ. (Please continue in a moment of silent, personal confession.) Leader: Believe the Good News of the Gospel: People: In Jesus Christ we are all forgiven! LUX PRIMA David Hamilton

*Song of Response Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen. Prayers of the People & the Lord s Prayer Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. Word with our Children ~ Proclaiming the Word of God ~ Bless the Lord O my soul, O my soul worship His holy name Sing like never before, O my soul. I ll worship his holy name. Darryl Evans (Four year olds through 2 nd graders may now be excused to Children s Church. An adult will now escort the children to the Children s Church Classroom, which is on the 3 rd floor of the education building, where they will be picked up by a parent after the service.) Anthem I ll Fly Away Bramley Chancel Choir arr. by Courtney Scripture Reading Exodus 3:16-4:17 Leader: People: This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Sermon The Cloud Darryl Evans But Moses said, O Lord, please send someone else. -Exodus 4:13 ~ Responding to the Word of God ~ *Affirmation of Faith from Psalm 42 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me all day long, Where is your God? These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go to the house of God under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of joy and praise among the festive throng.

By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me a prayer to the God of my life. I say to God my Rock, Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy? Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. Offering & Offertory Westminster Chimes Wagner Alleluia Ringers *Doxology Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen. *Prayer of Thanksgiving *Hymn of Commitment No. 615 Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling THOMPSON *Benediction Postlude My Redeemer McGranahan *All who are able please stand.
