IN THE ZONE HOME FALL 2018 NE Alabama FCA PO Box 14185 Huntsville, AL 35815 256.536.7333 TEAM UPDATE If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:1 Dear NE AL FCA Teammates in Christ, This picture will forever be engraved on my mind. To see a vision fulfilled, to see a prayer answered, to see over 600 middle school, high school and college students on their faces before God the Father the weekend before school began was AWESOME! The weekend was slightly changed when we were forced to move the PLT PARTY featuring MERCYME and TENTH AVENUE NORTH to Sunday, September 9th, but it too ended up being a VERY SPECIAL NIGHT. Over 3,700 gathered together to worship and CELEBRATE KING JESUS I hope you were able to attend, but if not, plan now to join us on Friday, August 2nd, 2019. There are so many stories to share and so many lives have been impacted, but I ve got to tell you I think our faith as a staff has grown as much as anyone s I ve come across. So, is this article going to be about us/me? Not at all, I pray you hear JESUS, JESUS ONLY JESUS! NE AL FCA FAM - as we planned this PLT PARTY and PLT CONFERENCE, I and the NE AL FCA STAFF, were so outside of the boat of being comfortable that I couldn t see the BOAT and we were hundreds of miles from land. I think we were all taught something- If it cost you something, it probably means something to you. Teammates in Christ, the students (LOST Students and/or FCA Student Leaders and Coaches) are all WORTH IT to our FCA STAFF/TEAM. They are WORTH IT for us to live our lives SURRENDERED (humbled), to be committed to SEEK HIM (pray to Him, meditate on His Word and to study His Word) more each day and lastly to be more bold to SHARE (communicate) the TRUTH! We believe this is why HEALING in many hearts is taking place in NE AL via FCA. It s more than a meeting - it s a MOVEMENT of the HOLY SPIRIT! Thanks so much for being a major part of this journey. On October 1st, 2018 we will CELEBRATE 14 years of officially being on Staff in NE AL. It is mine, my Bride s (Angie) our son /Zak (17) and our Princess Abby s (20) absolute JOY to see the Lord Jesus with the BEST STAFF/TEAM in FCA and with you and yours via NE AL FCA. I haven t worked in a very long time, yet I truly get up everyday and live out a PASSION, which is only growing more and more each day, followed by a COMPASSION for Students, Coaches and ALL whom they INFLUENCE! If I can ever serve you in any way, please let me know. We re not doing anything different, but it s just our turn! Ken Burnett Multi Area Director Northeast Alabama PAGE ONE

COACHES MINISTRY The book KINGDOM COME is subtitled How Jesus Wants to Change the World. After 10 years with Northeast Alabama FCA coaches ministry, I am convinced that God does work in and through Christian coaches from one at a time, to small groups and to large groups. Here are some pictures of this past semester. Every one of these coaches influenced scores of young lives, which adds up to be thousands. COACH Ralph Keel Director of Coaches Ministry As we close out our fiscal year we are on target to finish very close to our budget numbers. The PLT Party reschedule due to illness was unexpected, but we just remember Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose. We are continually giving thanks for our faithful financial partners who allow us to minister to so many. Gary Serrett Area Director Chief Financial Officer PAGE TWO

CAMPUS MINISTRY Pam Chambliss Wow, Wow, Wow! I am having a hard time containing my excitement about what is happening in Campus Ministry this fall, but let me update you on the ministry that took place this summer. We kicked off the summer with 31 young men and ladies coming on staff as FCA Summer Interns. These young servants spent 8 days in training during Spiritual Bootcamp and then went on mission serving as leaders during 2 of the 4 FCA s. Many served at all 4 camps! We were blessed to have a larger number of high school volunteers to come and serve as leaders at camp who were a big part of making the camps a great success. Campus Director We ended the summer with our Power Leadership Camp and had 522 middle school and high school students come to learn more about being a leader for Christ on their campuses this school year. Ninety two college students volunteered their time to serve as Huddle Leaders for PLT. That is a lot of beautiful feet that will be walking the hallways of so many of our area campuses, How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news! Romans 10:15. Did I say that I am EXCITED?!?!?! We are kicking off the 2018-19 school year with the largest campus ministry team ever in the history of NE AL FCA. Coming on full time staff this fall are Russ Daniels and Megan McDuffee. These two will be focused on high school campus ministry and pouring into the lives of young men and women on those campuses. Also joining us this fall is former Lee High student, Eric Robertson, who will be serving as an intern serving in all areas of campus ministry. Returning this year is college intern, Connor Reece who will be serving elementary and middle school campuses. We started our FCA Co-Ops program two years ago with two Co-Ops and last year we had four Co-Ops throughout the school year. This fall we have six high school seniors that will be serving as Co-Ops and serving on elementary and middle school campuses in Madison County. Please be sure and read more about our campus ministry team and gain some insight about who they are and their heart to serve as missionaries in Northeast Alabama! Trading Math for Ministry Megan McDuffee Campus Representative My name is Megan McDuffee, and I am a Huntsville native and recent graduate of Auburn University. Having always wanted to teach, I majored in math education during my time at Auburn. God placed me at Auburn High School for my teaching internship in Spring 2018 and it was being in the classroom everyday that showed me just how dark the schools are becoming, revealing the need for someone to bring the light and hope of Christ to our schools. I realized that while I could show love as a math teacher, I wanted to be able to share the gospel with them directly. God placed a burden on my heart for students in need of hope here in America and gave me the desire to be a regional missionary. The Lord then opened the opportunity for me to come on staff with FCA as a Campus Minister working with high school girls. Though the job description initially intimidated me, God has revealed how all of my past life experiences - including high school athletics, FCA involvement, youth ministry internship, camp counselor experience and teaching background have helped prepare me for this job and given me confidence that He will be faithful to do the work in and through me. I could not be more excited to spread the hope of the Gospel among students throughout North East Alabama! PAGE THREE

CAMPUS MINISTRY (continued) Russ Daniels Campus Representative I am so excited to be coming on full-time staff with a focus on high school campus ministry! As many of you know, I have served as a college intern this past year, and I have seen how everything in FCA works together. My passion for FCA and high school ministry has grown so much over this past year. Having that year of experience has helped me tremendously. Being able to devote all my time to servicing the high school campus area is truly a blessing and an answered prayer. My goal is to help these athletes develop a relationship with Christ and see them go boldly into their schools to create more disciples. I have the privilege of doing this with the best team in the world! Please continue to pray for us because we absolutely need it. I m so excited for this opportunity! Eric Robertson Campus Ministry Intern Hi, my name is Eric Robertson and I am from Huntsville, Alabama. I grew up playing a few different sports, but basketball quickly became my favorite. I didn t grow up in a home where knowing God was taken very seriously, although we did go to church from time to time. I came to know Christ personally as a freshman in college at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga when someone invited me to FCA. After going to the first few meetings I reached a point where I knew that I needed Jesus to be the Lord of my life. I later fell in love with the ministry and began to give my time to it serving in any way I could. After playing basketball in college for four years I then went to England to play professionally for two years. As I finished my short basketball career I came back to the US and I knew I wanted to get involved with FCA. I contacted the multi-area director, Ken Burnett, who gave me the good news of a potential opening. I am now very excited to say that I will be working with FCA here in the Northeast Alabama region as a part of the campus ministry team. I can t wait to be a part of what God is doing in the lives of students on campuses in the Connor Reece College Intern Of Campus Ministry Hello everyone! My name is Connor Reece and I am a college intern with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This will be my third year with FCA and I am so excited to see what God has planned for this new school year. This year I will be focused mostly on our middle school and elementary school huddles and building up leadership teams so that we have student leaders on our campuses that are prepared to serve and lead every single day. Also, I will be doing talks for teams during their practices that we call Popsicle Blasts. I truly believe that this will be the best year ever and I can t wait to serve the students this year! Let the pictures tell the story! CAMP MINISTRY I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 Jamie Strange Area Director Director of Camp Ministry Summer was filled with lots of energy, excitement and a great work of the Lord. We had a team of about 50 summer interns and summer staff serving with us this summer. Lives were changed for all eternity and God developed leaders to serve Him today and in the days to come through these camps. Here are some quick stats: * over 1600 attending 7 different camps this summer * 130 Salvation decisions made during these camps * 152 Re-dedications of Faith this summer * several hundred volunteers between all these camps * to God be all the Glory.
