President s Report June 2017 Wow, is summer here! Been working outside and it's hot. Make sure to get climatized and stay hydrated when working in this heat. I see post from lots of folks cutting grass, trimming, spraying so make sure you don't over do it. I talked to Ray a few nights ago and he and Chuck Berry have been working to put a great program together for our joint meeting this August in Alabama. Hopefully everyone will try to come as it is close to the Georgia state line. We plan on having our board of directors meeting on that Friday night, so we need the directors to attend if at all possible. Keep those trees growing as Christmas time will be here before you know it. Its Christmas, keep it real. Matthew Gay President, Georgia Christmas Tree Association

Trees for Troops Report Greg Smith It s time to begin planning for the Trees for Troops campaign for 2017. I want to thank all all those that participated in our successful program in 2016 where our Association placed nearly 900 trees in active military family s home. FedEx picked up trees at Raulston Acres, Southern Christmas Tree Plantation, Hunters Christmas Tree Farm, Evergreen Christmas Tree Farm, Minters Christmas Tree Farm and Greenbriar Creek Christmas Tree Farm and Jacks Creek Farm. Georgia National Guard picked up trees at Greenbriar Creek Christmas Tree Farm and Brumby and White delivered trees to National Guard units. Ranger units picked up trees at Kinsey Family Farm. I urge you all to again consider participating in this very worthwhile project. I will be contacting you individually after our meeting in early August when we meet in Valley, Albama with the Southern Christmas Tree Association. I will have a few posters to distribute there. See me there if you are interested in participating. This program not only gives our military family trees but it can also be a successful part of your advertising program by using all the information available found on the Trees for Troops website. Please contact me with your questions about the program. Greg N. Smith 06-202-8936 Georgia Christmas Tree Association coordinator for Trees for Troops
