Watch carefully then how you live, not as foolish persons but as wise Ephesians 5:15 A wise person recognizes that all we have and all we are comes from God. A wise person thanks God continually throughout the day for all His many blessings. A wise person realizes that God has blessed us for a reason and that He wants us to help Him build His kingdom of earth. The August 12th collection will be reported in next weeks bulletin. Counting Team # 4 August 26th School Parents/Leilani Okamura OUTREACH MINISTRY The hero reveals the possibilities of human nature. (Daniel J. Boorstin) All of you are heroes to us who rely on your generosity to accomplish God s work. (Envelopes can be found in the Gathering Area of the Church). MEDITATION FOR AUGUST 19, 2018 We grow in wisdom as we grow in our understanding of God. Our human understanding limits us, and so Scripture and the Church provide teachings that help us to know, love and trust in God. In Jesus, we come to know the Father; and through Jesus, as the Bread of Life, we come to have eternal life. In the first reading, Wisdom has prepared her table for those seeking understanding. In the reading from Ephesians, we are instructed to live not as foolish persons but as wise. In the Gospel, Jesus tells the crowds that He is the bread of heaven, and that whoever eats of Him will have eternal life. ATTENTION LADIES AN AUTUMN RETREAT BY THE SEA A retreat by the Shore! As Summer is ending and Fall is on its way, the kids are back in school and before the holidays are upon us, what could be better than to take the opportunity to spend some time for yourself on Retreat at the Jersey shore. This year, the retreat will be Friday evening, September 28 to Sunday afternoon, September 30 at St. Joseph s by the Sea in Mantoloking, NJ, a beautiful house on the beach run by the Religious Teachers Filippini, which is fully air-conditioned, featuring private rooms with full bath accommodations between rooms. Join us with Mary Lehmann, Facilitator, on an introductory, nothing strenuous, no yoga experience necessary retreat which may be done in your chair if necessary. She adds If you want to participate in a session or two, or just spend the weekend in your robe and slippers and be pampered, have a room to yourself, read a book, walk the beach, enjoy meals prepared for you and just BE. There is no need to DO. We are human beings, not human doings. The yoga sessions are easy and some can be done sitting in a chair. We do sun salute in the morning but some just like to sit and watch and just listen. The Spirit of God is asking amazing women to gather in this beautiful, peaceful setting to find out how they can transition, just as the seasons transition, in the colorful, whimsical, loving flow of Life. Come to experience the freedom and Peace Jesus had in mind. Come to be yourself. Mass & prayer time will be part of the weekend. Check-in at the retreat house may start at 4:30 pm and the first gathering will be at 8:00 pm. Cost is $245 for the whole weekend, which includes Saturday and Sunday meals. Space is still available, so reserve your space soon by e mail to: Nan at nanmark77@aol.com or Liz at ldeluca@staugustinenj.org. or calling Liz DeLuca at the Parish Office (732)297-3000.
