What was the large piece of furniture just inside the door as you enter into the court of the Tabernacle? (Bronze or brazen altar.) 2. What was the altar made of? (Wood covered with bronze.) 3. How do the wood and bronze remind us of Jesus? (The wood reminds us that Jesus became a man. Bronze is a strong metal and hard to shape. It reminds us that Jesus is strong and that He doesn t change His mind about what is right and wrong.) 4. What was the altar used for? (To sacrifice animals.) 5. Why did God tell His people to bring animals for sacrifice? (The animal died instead of the person to pay for sin.) 6. What animals were used as a sacrifice? (Bulls, doves, or lambs.) 7. What important instructions did God give His people in choosing the animal for sacrifice? (It had to be perfect no broken bones, sore eyes, wounds in flesh, scratches, or scars.) 8. Why is the animal sacrifice a reminder of Jesus? (He is perfect without sin. When He died on the cross, He took our place, and His blood cleanses us from our sin.) 9. Who were the only ones allowed to go beyond the brazen altar? (The priests.) 10. The second piece of furniture in the court was the laver, what was the laver used for? (The priests washed their hands and feet in it when they were finished with their work at the altar.) 11. Why does the laver remind us of Jesus? (As we learn more about Jesus, we see that we are not like Him. We are sinful and need to be made clean.) 12. In our Bible Memory Verse we learned that Jesus did something special for us. What did He do? (Washed our sins away with His blood when He died on the cross.) *COUNSEL TIME: (*Only if you did not counsel with the children earlier.) SEND HOME WITH THE CHILDREN: 1. MEMORY VERSE HELPS THE TABERNACLE LESSON #2 God s Willingness to Be With His People Revelation 1:5... Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood. (The underlined portion of the verse indicates what the younger children should memorize.) USE the visual and let the children read the verse with you. READ the verse from your Bible while holding the visual so the children can follow along. DO MOTIONS together with the children while you EXPLAIN the verse as follows: Revelation 1:5 (Hold hands as an open Bible.)... Unto Him that loved us, (Point up. Cross arms in front of you as if you are hugging yourself. Point to yourself.) and washed us from our sins (Rub hand over heart like washing away of sins.) in His own blood. (Make cross with pointer fingers.) Revelation 1:5 (Hold hands as an open Bible.) This is the address (where the verse is located in the Bible). This verse is found in the book of Revelation, chapter 1, verse 5. The word Him is talking about Jesus. Jesus loves you and me so very much that He did something special for us. He takes away our sins when we receive Him as our Saviour. How did He do that? He died on the cross and gave His precious blood to wash away our sins. When we trust in Jesus as our Saviour, He cleanses us and takes away all our sins so that we don t have to be separated from God. We can live forever with Him in Heaven! The book of Revelation, chapter 1, verse 5. DRILL the verse with the activity listed on the Tabernacle #2 Agenda. TEST the children for their understanding of the verse. What does it mean to be washed from our sins? What did Jesus have to do so we could be cleansed, or forgiven of our sins? CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF EASTERN PA, INC. P.O. Pretend you are a priest washing hands and feet at the laver. BIBLE LEARNING GAME: An Offering for Sin Have children sit in a circle. Give one child a beanbag. Pass it around the circle as the children sing together (to the tune of Deep and Wide ): You and me, you and me, Jesus died on the cross for you and me. You and me, you and me, Jesus died on the cross for you and me. At the end, whoever is holding the beanbag names something that is sin. That child walks to the center of the circle and pretends to lay down an offering and wash his hands. Say, In the time of Moses, because of their sin, people brought an offering to the Tabernacle. But Jesus died on the cross for you. (Children form a cross with their pointer fingers.) His blood can wash away your sin. Repeat this procedure. CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF EASTERN PA, INC. P.O. GO AND TELL BOX Week #16 Who Are the Luttmanns? (Suggested item to put in the Go and Tell Box picture of song.) What do you think this song has to do with going and telling? (Let the children share their ideas.) This song visual reminds me of how helpful it is for missionary teachers to have visuals to use when teaching children. WHO ARE THE LUTTMANNS? (Use WHO wordstrip.) Let s meet one of our missionary families. This is Mr. and Mrs. Tom Luttmann who are missionaries with Bible Visuals International located in Akron, Pennsylvania. Let s call them Mr. Tom and Mrs. Betsy. (Show their picture, and point to the children.) They have five sons: Elijah is 12 years old, Samuel and David are 11 year-old twins and Jessie is 5 years old. They have a little sister, Ginger will be 4 this summer. Mr. Tom grew up living on an apple farm in Canada. His older brother told him about how Jesus died on the cross to take the punishment for his sins when he was just six years old, and he prayed to receive Jesus as his personal Saviour. Mr. Tom had the privilege of attending Bob Jones University. The first year he studied there, he learned the importance of serving the Lord Jesus. For two summers, Mr. Tom came to Eastern Pennsylvania and served as a summer missionary with CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF EASTERN PA, INC., teaching the Bible to boys and girls like you in neighborhood 5-Day Clubs. During the training that first summer he learned how to help children understand that they needed Jesus to be their personal Saviour. Mr. Tom is now in charge of the ministry of Bible Visuals International. They print materials like our songs and our missionary lessons that we use in Good News Club/Released Time Class. (Show Secret in the Woods visual.) LET S PRAY FOR OUR MISSIONARIES. THANK the Lord for Mr. Tom and his family who is serving the Lord by making printed materials available to missionaries for to teach children. PRAY that the Lord will give Mr. Tom wisdom in making decisions about what materials need to be printed. CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF EASTERN PA, INC. P.O. BOX 4375 HARRISBURG, PA, INC. 17111-0375
