See Involvement Helps for Younger Children for helps in teaching the verse to the younger children.) Pass the Baton After you have read this verse from the Bible, explained what it means, and repeated it at least two times, you may begin this drill. Pass a baton (empty paper towel holder) from one person to another as you repeat the verse together. Variety: Divide the class into two groups, lining up on opposite sides of the room one behind the other. Hand a baton to the first person of each team and have them say the reference. They then hand the baton to the next person in line for them to say the next word of the verse. Continue until both teams have recited the entire verse. Challenge the teams to be the first to recite the entire verse. HYMN FOR MOSES #7-#12: (2 minutes) BIBLE LESSON: (20 minutes) MOSES #11 God s Punishment for Disobedience (See Involvement Helps for Younger Children for ways to involve the children in the Bible lesson.) Otherwise, at the end of club, be sure to remind the children who responded to the invitation to stay after club for a few minutes.)

REVIEW ACTIVITY: (7 minutes) Use the activity below or the Bible Learning Game from the Involvement Helps for Younger Children. Yes or No Decorate a paper bag by printing different styles and colors of YES and NO on it. Put squares in the bag with points (100, 200, 300, 400, 500, etc.) printed on them. Divide the class into two teams. Alternating between the two teams, ask the questions below. When the questions are asked, the child must answer Yes or No and explain why they gave that answer. If the child answered both parts correctly, let him reach in the bag and pull out a square. The child s team earns the number of points on the square. MOSES, Law Giver, CEF Press. 4 PRE-SESSION, Younger Child MOSES #11... Reckon... yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin.... Romans 6:11
5 MEMORY VERSE HELPS MOSES LESSON #11 God s Punishment for Disobedience Romans 6:11... Reckon... yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ, our Lord. (The underlined portion of the verse indicates what the younger children should memorize.) USE the visual and let the children read the verse with you. READ the verse from your Bible while holding the visual so the children can follow along. DO MOTIONS together with the children while you EXPLAIN the verse as follows: Romans 6:11 (Hands as an open Bible.)... Reckon... (Put hand under chin. Make face like you are thinking.) yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, (Close eyes and tilt head to side.) but alive unto God through Jesus Christ, our Lord. (Open eyes; make head straight. Make a cross with your pointer fingers.) Romans 6:11 (Hands as an open Bible.) This is the address (where the verse is located in the Bible). The book of Romans, chapter 6, verses 11. Reckon means to think or know something is true. When you are dead, can you do anything? No! If you know Jesus as your Savior, you should think, when you are tempted to sin and disobey God, No, I can t do that! This phrase means that you should be awake, excited, and doing what God wants you to do because Jesus gives you the strength to obey God. How do you know what God wants you to do? By reading and obeying His Word, the Bible. The book of Romans, chapter 6, verses 11. DRILL the verse with the activity listed on the Moses #11 Agenda. TEST the children for their understanding of the verse. If you know Jesus as your Saviour, what should you think when you are tempted to sin? Instead of sinning, what should you do? Put hands together in front of you. Move them apart as ground opening up. Move them back together again. Complain to neighbor saying, They ve killed some of God s special people. Complain to neighbor again. This time saying, No food! No water! Say, Show me what Moses did when the people complained? Allow children to show the answer before you tell them. With a pretend rod, hit the rock twice. Run in place to water. Cup hands and drink. Look joyful! Throw arms up in the air or turn around in a circle. Sadly, walk in place up the mountain. As Moses, help Aaron take off coat and put it on Eleazar. BIBLE LEARNING GAME: Say No! Have children stand side by side in a line at one end of the room. Choose one person to be it and stand on opposite side of the room. Call out a behavior such as obey your mom or be kind. Children in line respond together, Say yes! and take a giant step forward. When you call out an inappropriate behavior such as tell a lie, children respond, Say no! and turn and run back to the start. Meanwhile, it tries to tag someone before he gets back. Tagged child becomes the new it. Remind them, God is the One who can help you say no to sin. Play again as time allows. CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF EASTERN PA, INC. P.O. BOX 4375 HARRISBURG, PA
7 GO AND TELL BOX Week #23 How Can We Help the Snavelys? (Suggested item to put in the Go and Tell Box children praying.) What do you think this picture of children praying has to do with going and telling? (Let the children share their ideas.) The picture reminds me that the most important thing that we can do for the missionaries we support in our Good News Club/Released Time Class is to pray daily for them. HOW CAN WE HELP THE SNAVELYS? (Show their picture and HOW wordstrip.) PRAY (Use PRAY wordstrip.) Even though this is our last club/class you can still pray for our missionaries over the summer. You can use your missionary prayer card. GIVE (Use GIVE wordstrip.) God is pleased when Christians give to help missionaries. Thank you for giving to help our missionaries have the money so they can continue to teach other people about the Lord Jesus. WRITE (Use WRITE word trip.) The Snavelys like to receive mail. You could write them a letter and tell them about your Good News Club/Released Time Class. Perhaps you have questions about creation or would like to draw them a picture of God s beautiful creation. Will you write them? (See general information sheet on missionaries we support.) GO (Use GO wordstrip.) God wants you and me to be missionaries. As a teacher in Good News Club/Released Time Class, I am a missionary. You can be a missionary too by telling your friends and family how Jesus can be their Saviour. Will you tell your friends and family about the Lord Jesus? If so, will you tell God that today and ask Him to help you be a missionary? (Give time for silent prayer before praying for the requests.) (Perhaps you will want to have a tract available for them to give to the person they will tell about Jesus.) LET S PRAY FOR OUR MISSIONARIES. THANK the Lord for Mr. Mike and Mrs. Carrie and for the money that has been given to help them tell others about the Lord Jesus. PRAY asking for safety as they travel and God for others to be willing to help by sharing gifts as they serve the Lord. CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF EASTERN PA, INC. P.O.
