If you haven t yet registered, be sure to do so soon, as space is limited. The Assembly is for all Catholics from throughout the diocese and you are welcome to attend the full day of activities or any part of it. The Assembly will include an outdoor Eucharistic Procession, inspirational talks and music, family activities, religious displays and vendors. Mass will be celebrated with Bishop Boyea and more than 100 priests and deacons from our diocese. There are still a few seats available on both buses. Please contact the office to save your seat. Also, the St. Francis Retreat Center in Dewitt has a limited number of overnight rooms available for those attending the Assembly. The cost of an overnight room is $45.00 for double occupancy or $55.00 for single occupancy. FAITH COMMUNITY NEWS PART-TIME SECRETARY POSITION Saint Francis Xavier Church is currently seeking a part-time secretary to job-share the administrative functions of the parish and religious formation. The position will work from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Primary duties include; answering phones, greeting visitors, weekly bulletin, type programs and letters, post collections, assist in religious formation registration, and maintain calendar and records. FRANCIS XAVIER There will be a Communal Anointing on Saturday, September 15th, at the 5:00 p.m. Mass at our sister parish, St. Francis Xavier. The purpose of this Sacrament is to bring spiritual strength to those who are physically or emotionally ill. If you are in need of the Sacrament, join us for this Mass to receive the Lord s mercy, love, strength, and healing. Maybe you can pick up a loved one, friend or neighbor in need, and bring them to this Mass. Remember, Christ is always present when we gather in His name. It s time to register your child(ren) for Faith Formation. Registration will be available after all weekend Masses on September 8th and 9th, as well as during the parish picnic on September 9th. Evening registration will take place on Thursday, September 13th, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. If this is your child s first year, we ll need health forms and baptismal records in order to complete the registration. Cost is $55.00 per child. If you miss either of these registration dates, please stop into the parish office during business hours. All sessions, pre-k through 8th grade, will start at 6:15 p.m. and conclude at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evenings. Classes start on September 20th. ATTENTION PRE-SCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN PARENTS For our pre-school and kindergarten children, SS. Charles and Helena is offering The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, which is a hands-on Montessori approach to faith formation. All first time Catechesis of the Good Shepherd students (pre-school and kindergarten) are required to attend a one time orientation prior to September 20th. If your child was registered last year they do not need orientation again. Orientation is for a parent and a Level I student. Please call Grace Guzowski at 810-686-9861, ext. 223 to schedule an appointment. We are very excited to get this year started! CONFIRMATION CLASS REGISTRATION AND H.S. YOUTH GROUP Confirmation deepens our baptismal life that calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families, neighborhoods, society, and the world. For any high school student seeking the Sacrament of Confirmation, there will be a Confimration meeting for parents and students on Sunday, September 16th, at SS. Charles and Helena parish center. This is also the first day of Confirmation preparation and Youth Group. Parents will meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Confirmation students will attend the meeting and then join the rest of the high school students for youth group from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The parent meeting will review the upcoming schedule of classes, a retreat date, Confirmation date, service hours, and other important information.
