October was a busy month not only for us Knights but our parish as a whole. St Anthony Fall Festival again experienced bad weather, but I believe they made some money. The ProLife chain on Oct 6 th had a pretty good turnout but I was disappointed in the handful of Knights that showed up. Our Sachse Fall Fest on the 12th also was a disappointment as low attendance and an afternoon downpour cut into expected profits. With the Knights also supporting the Hike for Life on the 12 th, there was just a small group running our booth. Octobers pancake brunch went well. There were few left overs and the cheat sheets I m putting together will make it easier for anyone to help out and know how items are prepared. So looking ahead to November we have a corporate communion scheduled for the 10 th at the 7:30 Mass. We will be honoring our veterans with a free pancake brunch as our pancake brunch is that same day. Don t forget on the 11 th the Knights have their Veterans Cup Golf Tournament at Woodbridge Golf Club in Sachse. Hackers are welcome as we start Registration at 11:11 AM. Hope to see you there. See flyer in Oct 27 th bulletin. This amount represents 70% of the money raised via our charity assessment and the sale of charity pins. The other 30% is allocated to the State Charities Committee for state charities, such as Special Olympics, disasters, such as West, and specific requests. The money given to the Bishop is used for the Diocese' Deaf and Special Needs Ministries.

Page 8 Don't assume you can't afford Disability Income Insurance One of the biggest mistakes you can make regarding disability insurance is to assume you can't afford it or you won't qualify. Before you make that assumption, do some basic research and apply for coverage through the Knights of Columbus. The Order s Income Armor product gives you options that can help you fit this critical protection into your risk management budget. For example, here are two ways you can reduce your premium: 1. Choose a two-year or five-year maximum benefit period. Depending on your age, the best option is probably a policy that pays benefits until you reach age 67. But a two-year or five-year maximum benefit period would cover many types of partial or total disabilities you might encounter in your working life. 2. Choose a longer elimination period. An elimination period is the number of days a total disability must exist before benefits begin to accrue. Typical elimination periods are 30, 90, or 180 days. Choosing a longer elimination period lowers the policy s premium. But be sure you have enough set aside in your business's contingency fund to account for the longer gap. As your professional insurance agent, running a small business and the challenges of risk management are two of my specialties. Let s talk about how to protect your business income, your retirement needs, and your family's financial future. Page 11 Marbles for Mary Recall the promise made during your 1st Degree ceremony. To carry your rosary always and pray it often. Marbles for Mary was started by Brother Ernie Martinez, PGK, to strengthen our prayer life and increase our devotion to our Blessed Mother. Our Chancellor Raul Medina has taken on the program and each time you pray the rosary you can add a blue marble into the container at the monthly Council meeting for each rosary prayed.
