FROM THE TEE BOX A Few Thoughts from Our Pastor Dear Friends: From the Tee Box! February 28-March 1, 2015 The Second Sunday of Lent It was very moving for me to have the opportunity to be with so many of you for Masses on Ash Wednesday. I also enjoyed Sunday very much and feel like we re all off to a good start for Lent! During the 11:30am Mass we welcomed our RCIA candidates during the Rite of Sending. Later that day I went with them and their sponsors to Saint Joseph Cathedral where they were greeted by Bishop Muench during the diocesan Rite of Election. Please continue to keep our candidates in your prayers. In the column to the right you will notice a reminder regarding our Tuesday Night Timeouts. We were not able to have these last year but will be offering during Lent this year. I am grateful to Mr Camile Gautreaux who shared with us last week. This Tuesday we welcome Dr. Tina Holland, a parishioner of Saint Jude and the new President of Our Lady of the Lake College. We will begin again with Mass at 5:30pm, followed by a brief 15 minute (or so) presentation, and then a soup and bread meal in the Parish Hall. These evenings are great for everyone, especially families, because we make the effort to end fairly early. I really hope that you will be able to join us. Sincerely, Fr. Trey Nelson Pastor Lenten Tuesday Evening Time-Outs! March for Life, January 2015 Lenten Donation Bags for Haiti Mission Do something special with your family for Lent. As part of our Lenten observance, take a small bag from the back of the church and fill it together as a family to help support our Haiti Mission. Or let your children take one each to put their own money in it. Every small amount adds up and helps tremendously. This is a great way for all of us to give in Christ s name and for parents to teach their children a way to imitate Christ. Since the donation directly benefits children, your children will be able to identify with giving to another child in need. Help your children better understand the Christian way of helping the less fortunate by saying a short prayer together each time you put money into the bag. Daylight Saving Time begins at 2:00 Am on Sunday, March 8th. Sponsored by the St. Jude Men's Club THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!! U.S. Bishops Want to Hear From You: The Bishops of the United States are asking each Diocese to conduct a consultation with the faithful in preparation for the upcoming Synod on the Family which will be held in Rome in October, 2015. The Bishops recognize that those who are living out their vocation to marriage and family are in the best position to advise them on these matters. Therefore, the Diocese is conducting an on-line survey and inviting all members of the Diocese to participate. To join the consultation, simply go to the Diocesan website at www.diobr.org and click on the 2015 Family Synod Survey. You need not answer all of the questions for your responses to be tabulated. At the end of the survey, click the submit button and your responses will be added to those sent to the Bishops. Take a few moments to contribute to this important project.
