PAOS From the President It s and we should be transitioning from hot and humid to cooler and drier. I say should, but we are mid- and it is still wet and hot at my house! also means the holidays are on the way. The Pan Am Holiday Party will be here before you know it! The Party will be held on Monday, December 14 th this year. Make sure you mark it on your calendar since we are breaking with tradition and it is NOT on a Tuesday night this year. Check in with Shirley at the meeting this month and make sure you are up to date on your dues for the year, that you have attended at least one meeting and brought one refreshment. If you have, then you are entitled to a Holiday Orchid. In addition, if you have 100% attendance and have not missed anything all year you will receive a second Holiday Orchid. Lucky You!! Remember that this month Pan Am will be meeting in the Community Center at Pinecrest Gardens. The Northwest section of the parking lot, across from the library when entering the Pinecrest Gardens parking lot. The meeting will begin promptly at 7pm and end at 9 pm due to the location. If you have not brought refreshment yet this year you can still bring one to this meeting or to the November meeting. This weekend is the Redland Open House. 16 th, 17 th and 18 th from 9-5. Carib Plants, Motes Orchids, Soroa Orchids and Whimsy will be participating. Also this weekend RF Orchids will be hosting the East Everglades annual Show and Sale. Have a beautiful weekend. Lots to do, and many gorgeous orchids to see and acquire. Wishing you good treats this month with very few tricks! Gail Board Meeting 2 President

PAOS This Month at PAOS This month at PAOS we are honored to have our friend, Kathy Whalen from St. Germain Orchids as the speaker. Kathy s family has over forty years expertise and bold presence in the agricultural life of Homestead, Florida. Kathy continues the legacy of superior quality orchids and warm, genuine service. Founded by two siblings with tremendous entrepreneurial spirit, St. Germain Orchids began as a roadside stall, entrancing passersby with vibrant, fresh blooms. Years of enduring effort and an unwavering passion for orchids expanded the family run business into what has become the region s premier vendor of nearly 200 types of Cattleya orchids. While an extensive variety of orchids can be found at St. Germain s, exotic Cattleya variety is the specialty. A visit to the St. Germain Orchids farm transports nature lovers away from the hustle and bustle of Miami, into a tranquil paradise of sweet scents and explosively gorgeous blooms. Bring your friends; it will be an enjoyable night. Kathy will be supplying a raffle and sales table as well. Next meeting: 20 7 pm Pinecrest Gardens, Community Center 11000 Red Road, Pinecrest, FL 33156 3
