Gathering in God s Name PRELUDE Meditation Flor Peeters WELCOME Nancy Tuma CHORAL INTROIT I Rejoiced When I Heard Them Say Bernadette Farrell Chancel Choir *CALL TO WORSHIP Jean Johnson, Liturgist May the peace of God rest upon your busy lives so that you may be quieted into prayer. May the love of God flow through your worship words that they may be alive with opportunities for service. May the grace of God seek out your every need and may the restless gospel set your hearts afire. Amen and Amen. *HYMN Open My Eyes, That I May See No. 451 *CALL TO CONFESSION *PRAYER OF CONFESSION God who loves us, you have always given us what we need, knowing our need even before we ask. You have taken care of us even when we could not care for ourselves. You have given us life and breath even when we forget to breathe in the beauty of our life. Why is it that we still doubt you? Why do we still go on our own way, rebelling against you? Why do we persist in doing everything our own way? God, we have hurt ourselves and others by being so fiercely independent and not being the Body of Christ. Give us enough courage to place our trust in you. Through the constant presence of the Spirit, we pray. Amen.

*RESPONSE OF PRAISE Lord for Mercy No. 576 Listening for the Word of God CHILDREN S TIME (Please sing the following while the children come forward.) *DECLARATION OF PARDON We are never alone. God walks with us, cares for us, and provides for all of our needs. God chooses to be in relationship with us even when we try to avoid having a relationship with God. This is the good news. Amen. *RESPONSE OF PRAISE God of Great and God of Small Verse 1 No. 19 *SHARING GOD S PEACE PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION We give thanks, O God for the sacred stories of scripture.
