Thank you to everyone who attended the Holy Day Masses on August 14 and August 15 for The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was great to see such a good crowd at all three Masses. The Parish Yard Sale raised over $2,700 for the building of our new church. This would not have been possible without all the great donors from our parish. There was something for everyone! A big Thank You goes out to all the people who gave of their time to price, clean, organize, set up and tear down all the tables, racks and shelving that were used. Without all the volunteer help we had, this would not have been possible. Thank you to all involved! As of August 20, we have raised over $3,500 with our aluminum can drive. Thank you to all who take the time to drop off their cans, please continue to do this. Money raised through this fundraiser will go to purchase a new stain glass window for church. Does it matter which knee you go down on? According to the General Instruction of the Roman Missal, "A genuflection, made by bending the right knee to the ground, signifies adoration, and therefore it is reserved for the Most Blessed Sacrament. By genuflecting we are acknowledging the presence of Jesus Christ in the tabernacle. It is tradition to use the right knee, just as you make the sign of the cross with your right hand. Either knee is acceptable, what matters most is the intention of your action. Do you genuflect when you go into a church that is not Catholic? Catholics genuflect to honor the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle. Protestants generally do not have the Blessed Sacrament present in the church so there would be no need to genuflect. Do you have questions about our Catholic Faith?? Most people do, so don t be afraid to ask. There is a question box in the back of church Please feel free to submit any questions you may have.
