s h a r i n g t h e h o p e o f J e s u s PASTOR SHARES CHANGING THE WORLD, STARTING WITH OUR COMMUNITY, ONE HEART AT A TIME August - 2013 page 2 calendar page 3 where can I serve? page 4 for your information page 5 growing in christ children s ministry page 6 warner christian academy page 7 ministry updates back page this month at wc Two years ago we adopted a new mission statement for White Chapel. Like most mission statements it seems rather obvious that this is what any church should be about: Changing our world, starting with our community one heart at a time. The power of any mission statement is that it keeps us focused on what is most important. Many of us find ourselves operating by the tyranny of the urgent rather than our primary focus. The past two years we have seen God at work at White Chapel changing our community through local outreach projects like our fall backpack and clothing give away and our Christmas toy party for our community. We have also helped hundreds through our Thrift Store and our food vouchers. Our Starfish fund has given needed aid to several families. We have also continued to support missionaries in Germany, Cote d Ivoire, Cameroon, and the Iannone s in the Dominican Republic. This year we have added an amazing mission trip to Costa Rica where we served five churches and we have added six Children of Promise supported through our Thrift Store. During our recent mission trip to Costa we visited an amazing little church in Los Guidos, on the outskirts of San Jose. This little church began at the bottom of a huge hill, probably over a mile straight up. They began in a little tent on a vacant lot. They moved about half way up the hill into a little building about a year ago. This is the church where we poured a concrete floor and put stucco on their inside walls. A few of us decided to run to the top of the hill about a quarter mile straight up. The pastor came running out and stopped us. Later we discovered there had been a robbery at gun point the previous week. Armed gangs were living at the top of the hill. As he shared the story of this church our mission statement began to come to life. He said when the church came to this community the whole hill was unsafe. Gradually some of the robbers had started attending church and finding Jesus. The crime rate was dropping rapidly. All the area from the church down the hill was now safe to walk. Our new prayer is when a group returns next year that we will be able to go to the top of the hill because that little church is changing its community one heart at a time. Just think what could happen if each of us approached the community where God has placed us with this mind set. How can I begin to change my community (my home, my school) one heart at a time? Jesus taught us the value of a single life. I pray each of us allow him to use our life for his purpose. You are loved, Pastor Steve

warner christian academy Dear Warner Christian Families, As we get ready for Posh Little Closet s Back to School Sale in just a few weeks, we are hoping that many Warner Christian families will want to be involved. Our event will take place August 2-4, 2013 in the high school gymnasium. If you are not familiar with a children s consignment event, it is a three day sales event that provides a venue for local families to buy and sell their gently used children and baby s items. Our events are held three to four times a year and are greatly anticipated by over a thousand Posh Little Closet fans! The events consist of consignors who bring their items for us to sell over the 3 day period, volunteers who sign up to help organize and run the sale, local families and Posh Little Closet followers who come to shop our sale and local businesses who desire to reach all the people involved by participating in our various advertising packages. During our event, we will also host a backpack and school supply fundraiser to provide back to school essentials to those who are in need of them. We welcome all who are willing to participate in our events in whatever capacity works for them. If you have never been to a Posh Little Closet sale, you won t want to miss this opportunity! Posh Little Closet sales offer a wide variety of children and baby s items including clothes (newborn junior sizes), shoes (newborn to 4), lots of toys, baby gear and equipment, gaming systems and games, furniture, feeding and nursing supplies, seasonal items, maternity clothes, uniforms, Women s Handbags and so much more. All of the items we sell are held to a high quality standard and are priced remarkably well at 50% -90% off retail! On top of that, our sale falls on tax-free weekend, so you will save even more money on back to school items! And as a family of Warner Christian Academy, you can print this promotional coupon to save even more off of your purchase! If you decide to consign at a Posh Little Closet sale, you will earn 70% off everything you sell (less a $10 registration fee). As a consignor, you get to choose your own prices and will earn an early shopping pass to the Consignor Presale. For those who would love to make some money and clean out their children s closets, but don t have the time, we do offer a tagging service to a limited number of people. For those who are interested in shopping a Posh Little Closet sale and love getting to shop before the Public Sale, you can sign up to be a volunteer. To be a volunteer and earn an early shopping pass (to shop the earliest presale, the Volunteer Presale), all you have to do is sign up to work for three hours before, during or after the sale. There are additional opportunities to volunteer for those who are unable to work three hours due to family or work circumstances. Please visit our newly remodeled website for additional details and to register to consign, volunteer or contact us with any questions. Our web address is www.poshlittlecloset.com or you can contact Sarah@ PoshLittleCloset.com.
