TWENTY-FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME FOR THE RIDE HOME First Reading: IS 66: 18-21 Second Reading: Heb 12: 5-7 Gospel: Lk 13:22-30 Many claim to be spiritual while they reject organized religion. Some claim religious traditions stifle the human spirit. Others claim, that since all religious traditions have the same goal, choosing any, or choosing one's path, will achieve the same end. At worst, religion is rejected as a burden. At best, it is treated as one of many different options for life. America seems to currently be filled with this line of reasoning. Poll after poll shows that the majority of people in the United States pray on a weekly basis, while fewer than half attend religious services on the Sabbath. Being religious is not enough. Jesus pointed this fact out in Luke's gospel. Have you ever met the person who has faith, but holds religion in disdain? How do you think the person would change if he or she accepted a religious tradition? YOUTH GROUP COME JOIN US! If you or anyone you know may be interested in becoming part of this wonderful Ministry please call Joy Milillo at 585-0938 or send an email to joym8103@yahoo.com Parish Outreach Ministry Food Pantry: Our pantry supply has been quite low these past few weeks. Thank you for all the donations given this past week that were very much needed and appreciated. We are still in need of the following items: toilet paper, scott towels, jelly, shampoo, soup, canned spaghetti o s, tuna, juice, macaroni & cheese, coffee, tea, and toothpaste. Back-to-school drive: School supplies can be expensive for families who are on a fixed income. Therefore, with your help, Outreach will be assisting approximately 75 children with these items. It would be very much appreciated it if the following supplies could be donated: -crayons -pen, pencil -loose leaf paper -binders-all sizes -notebooks -loose-leaf folders-all sizes -index cards -scissors/rulers -back-packs Please return any of the above items this weekend after all the masses. Items can be left in the Church lobby or the downstairs outside lobby. God Bless JOIN US!!! The Diocese of Rockville Centre will host a Year of Mercy Diocesan Pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., on September 24th, 2016. $50.00 per person includes tip. Departs from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton @ 6:45am and return bus departs the Basilica @ 5:30pm. As adults, we thank her for all she had done for us. Now we are blessed with the opportunity to turn to our Heavenly Mother Mary to ask for her support and guidance, and thank her for the many blessings she has given us. Every Wednesday after 9:00 AM mass (at 9:30), you are invited to join us as we pray the rosary to ask for her help and guidance and to thank her for her abounding love.

Mercy is the force that reawakens us to new life and instills in us the courage to look to the future with hope - Pope Francis **One Faith, Family and Community is the theme around which we are sharing the inspiring story of the Catholic Ministries Appeal. **As One Faith Family, we are called as a community to show mercy to others as Pope Francis has asked us to do in this extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy. **Supporting the Catholic Ministries Appeal gives each of us a remarkable opportunity to show mercy to others and touch the lives of so many who are in our family of faith and in our community a neighbor in need of food or shelter, a young man or woman finding their way to God through our youth or campus ministry programs, or a deacon or seminarian studying to serve in our Diocese. We delivered or served more than 550,000 meals to senior citizens and young families. Parish outreach centers, including our food pantries, assisted more than 100,000 families. Our Office of Hospital Ministry served more than 300,000 people in local hospitals. 12,000 volunteer Catechists taught Religious Education to more than 110,000 of our children in public schools. In our 133 Parishes there were more than 17,000 Baptisms, 17,000 First Communions, 19,000 Confirmations and 3,000 Weddings. We provided safe and affordable housing for struggling seniors through 15 housing facilities with more than 1,200 affordable apartments. Our parish received a cash rebate of more than $10,000 which helped to offset expenses needed to maintain our building and to fund the many programs we offer. Please consider making a pledge to this most worthy charity. We need the help of every parish family to reach our goal of $50,800. You have until January 31, 2017 to pay off your pledge. No down payment is necessary. The Diocese will send monthly reminders. Keep in mind this is not a legal document. If you feel you cannot keep up your payments, simply discontinue them.
