STEWARDSHIP St. Paul begins today s second reading by stating that he was called to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As baptized Catholics who have an opportunity to share in Christ s life through the Eucharist regularly, we too are called to proclaim the teachings of Christ. We are stewards of Christ s Gospel. But how are we responding to that call? Do we listen for the guidance of the Holy Spirit? Do we evade, dodge or ignore the Lord s call? Do we attempt to proclaim the Gospel in a spirit of compassion and love? Reflect on how you exercise stewardship over the Gospel. May our prayers bring healing, comfort and strength to the sick and their caregivers, remembering especially Mary Adams, Agnes Bartoszek, Greg Basco, Gwen Beres, Mary Ann Betliskey, Bill Bican, Joyce Bican, Phillip Bilelo, Corrine Dawe, Lucy Nieves DelValle, Diane Dufalla, Jose Dybzinski, Maria Dybzinski, Mary Gurcze, Kristin Hill, Gertrude Kocab, Rose Krol, Lucy Konkoly, Tom Konkoly, Judy Landolph, John Limber, Pat Lubrano, Art Madsen, Cindi Magyar, Marguerite Miller, Jeannette Morrow, Dan Palmentera, Suzanne Patton, John Pocius, Betty Rhine, Brianna Rhine, Stella Rogal, Laurel Salupo, Noreen Spehar, Elaine Stack, Rev. Eugene Simonet, an emotionally and physically scarred social studies teacher, challenges his young students to devise some type of philanthropic plan and put it into effect. A young boy, whose own life is far from rosy, takes the assignment to heart and invents the "pay-it-forward" philosophy, which encourages paying back favors in advance. The whole town embraces the boy's concept, and random acts of kindness become a community pastime. Though celebrated by acquaintances and the media, the boy struggles at home with his alcoholic mother, and the only one who recognizes his lonely fight is Eugene Simonet. Drinks & Snacks provided. Please call the rectory to make a reservation.
