R *Singing: Their praises you accepted; accept the prayers we bring, Great author of all goodness, O good and gracious king. R Opening Prayer & Lord s Prayer ~ To you who triumphed over death, we sing our praise. Your steadfast love endures forever. As we face your death and recall the week of your suffering, may we do so with a joy that anticipates the celebration of your resurrection; may we do so with the confidence to turn to you in both life and death. Save us Lord! Hosanna! Praise the Lord! Alleluia! Amen. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heav n. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

-3- Lenten Candle Liturgy Reader 1: We are nearing the end of our Lenten journey, and as disciples of our Lord we remember the events of long ago, when the 12 disciples entered Jerusalem with Jesus, but then deserted him a few days later. We remember that in our own lives, when things go well we often know God is with us, but when we are afraid, when we are at risk, we may abandon our faith. Reader 2: We light this candle as a symbol of our trust in Jesus Christ that God will always remain faithful, even when we lack faith. Prayer: Holy One, you have journeyed with us through the valley of the shadow, and will see us through to the other side. Help us to remain faithful to you, even in times of deepest doubt. Amen. We are walking a path of expectation, We are walking a path of expectation, We are walking a path of expectation, ((Lead us home, lead us home. Anthem: Blessed be the Name of the Lord Blessed be the name of the Lord x 2 Blessed be the name of the Lord Most High (repeat) (please join in the actions) The name of the Lord is a strong tower the righteous run into it and they are saved (repeat) Jesus is the name of the Lord x 2 Jesus is the name of the Lord Most High (repeat) The name of the Lord is a strong tower the righteous run into it and they are saved (repeat) Blessed be the name of the Lord x 2 Blessed be the name of the Lord Most High (repeat) Palm Sunday Presentation: The Real Easter Story Scene 1 - Introduction

-4- Singing: VU#357 Tell me the stories of Jesus I love to hear; Things I would ask Him to tell me if He were here; Scenes by the wayside, tales of the sea, Stories of Jesus, tell them to me. First let me hear how the children stood round His knee, And I shall fancy His blessing resting on me; Words full of kindness, deeds full of grace, All in the love light of Jesus face. Tell me, in accents of wonder, how rolled the sea, Tossing the boat in a tempest on Galilee; And how the Maker, ready and kind, Chided the billows, and hushed the wind. Into the city I d follow the children s band, Waving a branch of the palm tree high in my hand; One of His heralds, yes, I would sing Loudest hosannas, Jesus is King! Show me that scene in the garden, of bitter pain; And of the cross where my Savior for me was slain; Sad ones or bright ones, so that they be Stories of Jesus tell them to me. Scene 2 - The Triumphal Entry Singing: VU#123 1. Hosanna, loud hosanna, the happy children sang; through pillared court and temple the joyful anthem rang. To Jesus, who had blessed them close folded to his breast, the children sang their praises, the simplest and the best. 2. From Olivet they followed mid an exultant crowd, the victory palm branch waving, and singing clear and loud; the Lord of earth and heaven rode on in lowly state, Content that little children should on his bidding wait. 3. 'Hosanna in the highest!' that ancient song we sing, for Christ is our Redeemer, earth let your anthems ring. O may we ever praise him with heart and life and voice, and in His humble presence eternally rejoice!

-5- Scene 3 The Last Supper Singing: VU#459 vs. 1, 2, 5 Here, O my Lord, I see you face to face; Here would I touch and handle things unseen, Here grasp with firmer hand eternal grace, And all my weariness upon you lean. Here would I feed upon the bread of God, Here drink with you the royal wine of heaven; Here would I lay aside each earthly load, Here taste afresh the calm of sin forgiven. Feast after feast thus comes and passes by, Yet, passing, points to that glad feast above, Giving sweet foretaste of the festal joy, The Lamb s great bridal feast of bliss and love. Scene 4 The Garden of Gethsemane/ Jesus Betrayal and Arrest Singing: VU#144 Were you there when they crucified my Lord? (2X) Oh, sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble. Were you there when they crucified my Lord? Were you there when they nailed him to the tree? (2X) Oh, sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble. Were you there when they nailed him to the tree? Were you there when they pierced him in the side? (2X) Oh! Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, temble. Were you there when they pierced him in the side? Were you there when they laid him in the tomb? (2X) Oh, sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble. Were you there when they laid him in the tomb?

-6- Scene 5 The Crucifixion and Burial Scene 6 The Resurrection Singing: Alive, alive, alive forevermore, Jesus is alive, alive forevermore Alive, alive, alive forevermore, Jesus is alive Sing hallelujah, sing hallelujah, Jesus is alive forevermore Sing hallelujah, sing hallelujah, He is alive for evermore. Scene 7 Jesus Among His Disciples Singing: VU#155 Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia! Our triumphant holy day, Halleluja! Who did once upon the cross, Alleluia! Suffer to redeem our loss. Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia! Unto Christ, our heavenly king, Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia! Sinners to redeem and save. But the pains which he endured, Alleluia! Our salvation have procured; Now above the sky he s king, Alleluia! Where the angels ever sing. Sing we to our God above, Alleluia! Praise eternal as his love; Praise him, all you heavenly host, Alleluia! Father, Son, & Holy Ghost. Presentation of Ourselves and Gifts to God Singing: VU#128 Sanna, sannanina, sanna, sanna, sanna (2X) Sanna, sanna, sanna, sannanina, sanna, sanna, sanna (2X) Offertory: Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below: Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Offertory Prayer: As Your faithful followers blessed Your coming and spread their garments in the way, covering it with palm branches, may we be ready to lay at Your feet all that we have and are and to bless You, Who comes in the name of the Lord. Amen

-7- Pre-prayer hymn: O how He loves you and me, (x2) He gave His life, what more could He give: O how He loves you, O, how He loves me, O how He loves you and me. Jesus to Calvary did go, His love for mankind to show; What He did there brought hope from despair: O how He loves you, O, how He loves me, O how He loves you and me. We bring our prayers to God Singing: VU#127 Ride on! ride on in majesty! Hark! All the tribes hosanna cry: O Saviour meek, pursue thy road With palms and scattered garments strowed. Benediction Ride on! Ride on in majesty! In lowly pomp ride on to die; O Christ, thy triumphs now begin O er captive death and conquered sin. Ride on! Ride on in majesty! The winged squadrons of the sky Look down with sad and wondering eyes To see the approaching sacrifice. Ride on! Ride on in majesty! In lowly pomp ride on to die; Bow thy meek head to mortal pain, Then, take, O God, thy power, and reign. VU #127 We extend the hand of Christian Fellowship to our visitors & ask you to sign the visitors book. We hope you ll return next Sunday. You are invited to Memorial Hall for coffee & conversation.
