Welcome to ONU Chapel Chapel worship is always a highlight of the week! Good music, passionate speakers, and a lunch are provided where you can be among a lively community of Christians. Around November we provide the opportunity to give back through the Giving Tree. Each semester we have a lighted labyrinth walk where you can take part in meditation and reflection. Pack the Chapel also happens near the end of each semester bringing together students who share their talents for a time of fellowship and games. These, along with other events allow students a wide variety of ways to help them grow spiritually as we reach out to the whole campus so that everyone feels welcome.
Organizations Ada Friends Ada Friends is a local program that integrates college students and Ada elementary students in a mentorship program similar to Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Agape Improv Agape Improv is a Christian theatre outreach team that performs short plays for various churches in Ohio. The purpose of these plays is to show different aspects of modern-day Christian life and to challenge Christians to live closer to their Lord. The various plays that have been done include The Bible in 10 Minutes and Sin Box. CPFI Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International (CPFI) is a worldwide, interdenominational ministry of individuals working in all areas of pharmaceutical service and practice. If you are a Christian pharmacy major, or someone who has a lot of interest in the world of pharmacy, CPFI is for you! CPFI hosts speakers who share their pharmacy experiences in order to promote growth in the members as Christians, pharmacists and people. FCA Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) goal is to present to all students, including athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church. FCA s meetings are open to everyone who is interested (no need to be an athlete) to enjoy a great time of friendship, fellowship and studying the Word of God.
Gospel Ensemble The Ohio Northern University Gospel Ensemble was formed in December 1987. Since that time, the ensemble has traveled to many area churches each year on weekend trips and visited some of the members home churches throughout Ohio and Michigan. An annual spring concert on campus is the traditional end-of-the-year event for the ensemble. The ensemble sings primarily contemporary Gospel music, and much of it is sung a cappella. The primary purpose of the ensemble is to spread the Word of God through song. Our motto is Winning souls to Christ with a melody! Habitat for Humanity This past spring break, Habitat for Humanity traveled to: -Jackson, Mississippi -Davidson North Carolina -Dade City, Florida Habitat for Humanity s mission is to eliminate substandard housing worldwide by building decent, inexpensive, adequate homes for families who need them. Habitat is not a giveaway; rather, the homeowners repay the mortgage over time. ONU Habitat has the further mission of providing an atmosphere of Christian service and fellowship for the entire ONU student community. ONU s chapter typically works on one or more homes in the Hardin County area during the school year. Each spring break, we take three trips to other parts of the country for a whole week. More than 100 students are able to participate in the trips. The cost is typically $150 and includes meals, housing and transportation.
Kappa Phi Christian Women s Service Organization Kappa Phi was born to unite young college women in a common purpose of strengthening their lives so that in everyday living they will be able to stand true to Christian principles. Belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and a perfect example for the children of God is the basic concept for which the club stands. The Kappa Phi club has a two-fold purpose: first, to educate and thereby enrich and deepen personal religious lives, and second, to educate in ways which will enable Kappa Phi s to live their Christianity through church and community service. Muslim Student Association The purpose of Muslim Student Association is to foster the Muslim community, bring all faiths together to promote inter-religious dialogue and create a better environment for Ohio Northern and the Ada Community. Newman Club Along with Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Ada, the Newman Club serves the Catholic community at ONU. They are a studentrun organization built on Catholic Christian ideals designed to serve the University community through religious, social, service and educational activities. They are involved in various outreach activities throughout the year, including activities in association with Our Lady of Lourdes. Additionally, the Newman Club sponsors a yearly Kairos Retreat over Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend. Northern Chimes Northern Chimes is a three-octave bell choir that performs at various churches in the state. They spread God s word through music from hymns to children s renditions of favorite Bible stories. This studentrun outreach team holds no auditions, and experience is not necessary; however some knowledge of music would be to your advantage.
NCF Northern Christian Fellowship (NCF) is a Christian organization associated with Cru, formerly known as Campus Crusade for Christ. We seek to grow and develop followers of Jesus Christ by creating an intentional community through discipleship and large and small group bible studies. As a group of believers, we reach out to others through outreach events and by providing a welcoming environment at our weekly Fusion meetings ONCA The purpose of Ohio Northern Christian Apologetics (ONCA) is to encourage and strengthen the faith of Christian students at ONU, while encouraging personal growth through higher values of truth, beauty, and goodness based on core principles of Christianity. ONCA hopes to encourage dialogue and stimulate discussion directed towards answering life s pressing questions. We discuss the defense of Christianity through reason, ethics, and culture. This group discusses how belief in Christianity does not require one to be intellectually dishonest, but that faith and reason go hand-in-hand. Sigma Theta Epsilon National Christian Service Fraternity Sigma Theta Epsilon (STE) is an organization united together to promote Christian fellowship and service among college men. Based on the motto of fellow workers with God (1 Corinthians 3:9), STE is founded on the five principles of fellowship, service, faith, reverence, and love. They believe that living these principles is necessary to establish Christ s Kingdom on the Earth, by which all men may become brothers one to another. They follow Christ, the true Light of the World, who is able to bring this light to everyone who desires it. Son s Rays Son s Rays is a group of musicians who bring the message of Jesus Christ through song and testimony. The team is generally composed of an even number of female and male vocalists, a pianist and a guitarist. Contemporary Christian music is the medium through which members of Son s Rays express their love for God. Another important aspect of the group is the sharing of personal testimonies by each member of the team. Auditions are held each year. In addition to traveling to churches, Son s Rays holds an annual spring concert on campus.
Tech Team The Tech Team provides audio and visual support for chapel programs. Each week, the Tech Team is responsible for recording and broadcasting chapel, and making sure chapel worship runs smoothly. In addition, they post the weekly chapel messages on the Web. UFO Ultimate Faith Outreach (UFO) is an outreach team that leads retreats for youth groups. The weekend retreats are a great way for them to share their faith with youth and encourage them in their walk with Christ. Churches of Ada CHURCH OF CHRIST (DISCIPLES) Pastor Bill Roszman 316 S.
