Sisters of Christian Charity.Assumption College June 3, 2017 will mark the 200 th birthday of Blessed Pauline von Mallinckrodt (Mother Pauline), founder of the Sisters of Christian Charity. In an effort to make Mother Pauline better known, we present the third in our series of biographical sketches. When Pauline turned ten, her parents sent her to St. Leonard s Academy, where she met a tremendously gifted teacher and poet, Luise Hensel. Without a doubt, Pauline was strongly influenced by the positive example of this outstanding educator, who knew how to form her students minds while she guided and encouraged their spirits. A reward which she offered her top students was to join her in caring for the most neglected poor of the city. Because of the enthusiasm of their teacher, her students vied to spend Saturday afternoons washing and dressing the street children and ministering to the needy. Long after they left her classroom, Luise Hensel s students would continue the lessons of justice and mercy they learned from this energetic woman. In fact, many of her students went on to become Sisters, several of them (including Pauline) founding religious communities. Please visit scceast.org for more information about the Sisters of Christian Charity. Threads of Love - Prayer Shawl Ministry We gather every 1 st and 3 rd Tuesday, 12:30pm or Evening - 6:30pm in the Narthex. New members are always welcome.
