ADORATION CHAPEL The Perpetual (24 hours) Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is available to us at Mercy Regional Hospital Chapel. If you are interested in becoming a regularly scheduled adorer or a substitute adorer, please phone 337-363-4533 for more information. We are in need of adorers for the following times: Friday evening at 6:00pm Saturday evening at 8:00pm COME, LORD JESUS! LENTEN JOURNEY Prayer + Scripture + Eucharist + Christian Community Journey with us during the holy season of Lent as we study and meditate upon the Sunday Gospels leading to the glorious resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Meet weekly with your community of faith for a deeper understanding of Jesus life and death and the victory he claimed for each of us! The second meeting will be on Friday, February 23rd at 6:00pm in the Sacred Heart Church Meeting Room. Prepare for the Easter celebration with a spiritual journey that will renew your faith and transform your life! SUNDAY: 18 FEBRUARY: FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT FROM THE PASTOR Dear Parishioners, Fr. Guy Desrochers, C.Ss.R, a Redemptorist priest, will be leading our Lenten mission this year. He will speak at all of the Masses February 17th & 18th then the mission will be Monday Thursday, February 19th - 22nd at 6:00pm. Part of a rosary will be prayed at 5:40pm each night. Please check out Fr. Guy s bio elsewhere in this bulletin. Please cut out the prayer for the success of the mission to be prayed each day. Please invite your family and friends to come out to this mission especially those who are not going to church. Many people who do not go to church will go to a mission and many of them are touched by the Holy Spirit. So please take this opportunity to evangelize. Thanks to another donor we have closed the gap of the $10,000 we will owe for the renovation. Now we will have to live on a shoe string budget since we have no savings. We are taking bids for Church and cemetery grass cutting. You must have $1 million general liability insurance. Also, the Church and Diocese must be placed as additionally insured on the vender s policy. We do have yard signs available for the Centennial Celebration for the Diocese of Lafayette. They are $10.00 a piece. If we run out, we can get more. Just make your order with Michelle our secretary. Please don t forget to pray for the success of our Women s ACTS Retreat going on this weekend. Fridays during Lent we have a Way of the Cross at 5:30pm in Church. Sincerely in Christ, Fr. Thomas Voorhies Fr. Tom s Joke of the Week The priest was invited over for dinner and asked to lead in prayer for the meal. After a brief prayer, Little Fred said approvingly, You don t pray so long when you re hungry, do you? Jeanmard died at the age of 77. He served as the first Bishop of the Diocese of Lafayette for over 37 years. In that time he oversaw incredible growth for the diocese. One of Bishop Jeanmard s lasting legacies was his service to African Americans in the Diocese. In his will, he requested that this body be laid after his death at St. Paul s before it was brought to the Cathedral for the funeral and burial. Jeanmard s death made national news as Time magazine ran a picture of black parishioners offering their respects to Bishop Jeanmard, with the caption: Last Homage to Negroes Friend. + Centennial Indulgence- an indulgence granted by Pope Francis can be gained throughout this Centennial Year by all who visit the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist and pray the Centennial Prayer (with the usual conditions for an indulgence.) Please see the Diocesan Webpage for more information (www.diolaf.org).

INTENTIONS OF POPE FRANCIS FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY Say No to Corruption: That those who have material, political or spiritual power may resist any lure of corruption. Deepen Your Prayer Life for Lent: The Divine Office, also known as the Liturgy of the Hours, is the prayer of the Universal Church. When praying the Liturgy, you are praying with members of the Church throughout the world. During Lent, the members of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites will be reciting the Evening Liturgy every Thursday evening beginning February 15th at Queen of All Saints Church. We will begin at 5:00 before 5:30 mass. All are invited to attend and pray the Divine Office to praise Our Lord and to offer petitions for your needs and those of your family. Handouts and instructions will be provided. You only need to bring you desire to raise your voice in prayer to Our Lord. WAY OF THE CROSS Every Friday during Lent we will pray the Way of the Cross at 5:30pm in Church. Lord, we pray that you will change the hearts of those who lead and influence us, give them the courage and moral fiber to speak out against and stop the sin of abortion, that America will regain its moral goodness and set an example for the rest of the world. Let us remember the Father s admonition in Deuteronomy; I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Choose therefore life, that both thou and they seed may live. + SCHOOL NEWS + Elementary School Mass Wednesday, February 21st High School Mass Friday, February 23rd Confirmation Retreat- Saturday, March 3rd + PRAYER FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE MISSION + The True Face of the Father Loving father, you sent your beloved Son, perfect reflection of your glory, and very stamp of your nature, to save us and to reveal yourself through his words and actions. Because your mercy is infinite, dear Father, we pray to you for the success of our parish mission. May the Holy Ghost that unites you so perfectly in the Holy Trinity, be given to us and help us understand and discern the calls and instructions that your begotten Son will give us during our parish mission. May He enlighten and guide all the faithful of our parish community to the fullness of your Love and Wisdom that dwells in the treasure of Christ s heart, Head of the Church. May He make us more attentive to the Word of God, to the necessity of daily and intimate prayer of the heart, and to fraternal charity, which is the only true sign of the presence of God dwelling in our hearts. Following the example of Christ and of our Blessed Mother Mary and her spouse Joseph, help us, Holy Spirit, to become the pure reflection of the true face of the Father! Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved. (Ps 80, 3) AMEN!

LENTEN MISSION AT SACRED HEART CHURCH Monday, February 19th - Thursday, February 22nd starting at 6:00p.m. Fr. Guy Desrochers, C.Ss.R. Theme: The True Face of the Father Born in 1956 in Gatineau, in the province of Quebec, Fr. Guy Desrochers, C.Ss.R., a French Canadian Redemptorist, is the third of a family of five children: one girl and four boys. He studied Fine Arts and Commercial Art at Algonquin College in Ottawa, and at 18 years of age, he became a graphic artist for a French newspaper where he worked for seven years. Since he was 14 years old, he had not put a foot in church, and led a disorderly life: drugs, alcohol and sex. Shortly after turning 24, his whole life suddenly changed, mainly because of his father s illness and his mother s prayers. He started reading his Bible after hearing an inside voice compelling him to read it. After 2 years of spiritual journey with the Lord, he finally answered God s call to become a priest. Ordained at the age of 32, he has since become a passionate preacher of the Good News, both in French and in English, around the entire North American continent. He has been the rector of the beautiful Shrine of St. Anne de Beaupre, near Quebec City, for 4 years. He was previously in charge of the French and English magazine of the Shrine (La Revue Sainte Anne and The Annals of Saint Anne), and is presently active in full time preaching since June 2015, and director of Pastoral Vocations for his community.
