Explain that you are thinking of a number from 1 to 10. (For younger children, you might want to think of a number from 1 to 5.) Read a question and have them raise their hand if they know the answer. Choose someone to answer the question. If the correct answer is given, then allow the child one opportunity to guess the number you are thinking of. If they don t guess the right number, say Good try and go on to the next question. If someone guesses the number you are thinking of before the questions or the time runs out, just think of another number. After a few wrong numbers have been guessed, you might want to make it easier for the children by telling them what numbers have not yet been picked. - Ralph Bechtel. PRE-SESSION, Older Child GOD S WORD AND ME #6 Shape Your Faith! Adapted from The Big Book of Bible Puzzles, Copyright 2000 Gospel Light.

PRE-SESSION, Younger Child GOD S WORD AND ME #6 When Should You Believe God?... They sang His praise. Psalm 106:12 All About God s Love, Copyright 2000 Grace Publications.

MEMORY VERSE HELPS GOD S WORD AND ME #6 Jehoshaphat Meets the Enemy MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 106:12 Then believed they His words; they sang His praise. (The underlined portion of the verse indicates what the younger children should memorize. See Involvement Helps for Younger Children for helps in teaching the verse to the younger children.) INTRODUCE THE VERSE: Do you know that God can give you the power to praise Him at all times? Our Bible verse for today reminds us of some people who did that. Let s learn the verse. READ THE VERSE: Read the verse from the Bible or have an older child read it; then have all the children read with you from the verse visual. EXPLAIN THE VERSE: Psalm 106:12 This is where the verse is found in the Bible. We call it the address or the reference. It is found in the book of Psalm, chapter 106, verse 12. Then believed they His words; They in this verse is a reference to the children of Israel, God s chosen people. When they saw how God delivered them from the Egyptians at the Red Sea, they believed that He did care for them. They could also trust Him in the future. they sang His praise. This means that they sang of the good things that God had done for them. They worshiped Him. As you read these stories in the Bible, you can believe they are true and learn to praise God as well. He took care of those people a long time ago, and He can take care of you today. You can learn to praise Him no matter what happens in your life because God is in control and He loves you very much. REPEAT THE VERSE: Simon Says After reading this verse from the Bible, explaining what it means, and repeating it at least two times, you may begin this drill. You perform the role of Simon, giving directions such as, Simon says, Put your hands on your hips and repeat the verse. Or, Simon says, Pat your head and repeat the verse. Children follow by repeating the verse while doing the action. They only follow directions preceded by, Simon says. CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF EASTERN PA, INC. P.O. LEARNING ABOUT THE BIBLE & THE OLD TESTAMENT BOOKS WEEK #16 (Place figure #1.) Last week, we learned about the first two Minor Prophets. (Place figures #39 and #40.) Do you remember their names? Hosea and Joel. Today, we will learn a little about the next two Minor Prophets. Their names are Amos and Obadiah. (Place Amos wordstrip.) Amos was not a prophet or a priest, but a common shepherd and fruit picker. Yet, God used him to write this small book to announce God s coming judgment on Israel and other nations. (Place Obadiah wordstrip.) Obadiah is the next of the Minor Prophets, and it is the shortest book in the Old Testament. Its 21 verses teach that God will judge all those who are against His people, the Jews, and that God is in control and will eventually bless His people. Let s repeat the names of the first four Minor Prophets: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah. (Practice several times saying the names of the five books of Law, the 12 books of History, the five books of Poetry, the five Major Prophets, and the first four Minor Prophets.) GO AND TELL BOX Week #17 Information About the Luttmanns INFORMATION (Suggested item to put in the Go and Tell Box - Picture of Until the Letter Came.) What do you think our lesson has to do with going and telling? (Let the children share their ideas.) Last week, we learned how Mr. Tom shares with missionaries about the materials that Bible Visuals International prints. (Show their picture.) Printing material cost money that is why it is one of Mr. Tom s goals to make materials available on line on the internet. Some missionaries are able to print materials from the internet, which is helpful to them. It saves them money and allows them to have it available immediately. One way that Mr. Tom is doing this is by contacting churches and sharing material with them that they may use in their children s ministry to help children learn about missions. Another way is by encouraging Christian colleges to develop a lending library that their students can use when they to teach children. It is important that you and other children like you learn about missions and be encourage to perhaps become a missionary when you grow up. Bible Visuals also desires to make more of the teaching materials available is bright full-color like our lesson Until the Letter Came. Some of the material is just black and white copies. This is another project that takes additional money to prepare. PRAYER THANK God for Mr. Tom and for the ideas that God is giving him to help prepare materials so that assist others to teach the children. ASK God the help each clubber earn money to give in the missionary offering so more materials can be printed. ASK God to help Mr. Tom tell others about the missionary materials available to other to teach children. CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF EASTERN PA, INC. P.O. BOX 4375 HARRISBURG, PA 17111-0375
