Financial Information Sunday collection: (November 16, 2014) $8,829.00 Utilities: (November 16, 2014) $1,786.00 God s Plan for Giving Tithing is God s plan to support His Church. Full tithing means 10% of income to God. We ask half of this, or 5% for your Parish Church. From the Desk of Fr Joe Yearly Financial Report Included on a separate sheet in this bulletin you will find the financial report for the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2014. I ask you to take a few minutes to review it. In addition to the report, I want to make the parish aware that we had to do a building inspection required by the City of Philadelphia. That inspection cost the parish $6,100. The engineering company issued a report to us on the condition of our buildings which indicates that we need about $35,000 in repairs to the exterior of our buildings. I have discussed this issue with the Finance and Pastoral Councils and will discuss it again in the Spring. The report indicates that the buildings are not in any imminent need of urgent repairs at this time. I also wish to inform the parish that our contract with the Charter School will end in June. I have begun the process of finding a new tenant in the school for next year. If I am not successful in renting the buildings then Saint William Parish will be facing some very serious and difficult financial times. Please pray for the successful lease of the school buildings in order to keep our parish financially sound. I thank you for all you do to financially support our parish. What exactly is a king like? When we think of a king, do we think of Jesus? What kind of kingdom does He have? How do we become members of it? These questions are all answered by the readings from sacred scripture today. The prophet Ezekiel, in the first reading, describes exactly what kind of king Jesus will be. He says that The Lord God will take care of us as a shepherd does his sheep. He says: "The lost I will seek out, the strayed I will bring back, the injured I will bind up, the sick I will heal..." This is exactly the same image Pope Francis is presenting to the world of our Church. He is pointing us to Christ our King. While we have this beautiful image of the kind of King Christ will be, we are also reminded of how we must be to enter into His kingdom. We learn how to live in Matthew's gospel from the lips of Jesus himself. He says that those who will enter the kingdom of heaven are those who behave in this way: "...I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me." A great challenge is given to us today to reflect on how we treat each other and all we meet in our lives. Jesus makes it clear how we are to live. He doesn't say it will be easy but He reminds us we do not need to do it all alone for He is our Shepherd and when we fall, stay away, sin, He will be the one to come and find us and bring us back. We do not need to be perfect to enter His Kingdom but we need to have the will to try to be perfect. In other words, love God with all we have and our neighbor as ourselves!
