The normal time for Baptism is Sunday afternoon at 1:00PM in the Lower Church. Please contact the rectory of ice to begin the process of scheduling your child s Baptism. PRE BAPTISMAL CLASSES Arrangements will be made to register for class after consulting with Deacon Bill Moser (215) SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION Saturdays: 4:00-4:45 PM Eve of Holy Days: 4:00-4:45 PM Eve of First Fridays: After 12:00 (Noon Mass Only) SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY Weddings may be scheduled for Saturdays at 11:00AM, 1:00 or 3:00PM in the Upper Church; at 2:00PM in the Lower Church. Couples intending marriage are asked to contact our Parish Priest at least six months prior to the intended date of marriage. Participating in a Marriage Preparation Program is a requisite for the reception of this holy sacrament. SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK In case of serious illness, please contact one of our parish priests. Anyone unable to attend Mass due to illness may call the Rectory to make arrangements to receive Communion in their homes. April 5, 2015 Easter Sunday

These words in the gospel today describe the apostle John and his reaction to finding the tomb of Jesus empty. Up until this point, the closest followers of Jesus had been hidden away. John, Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and a few of the other women followers of Jesus were the only ones to actually witness His death on the Cross. Most of the apostles must have felt that all was lost and Jesus was gone. Yet, the one who saw Him die, is the first one the scriptures mention who "believed." As he was one of the first to experience the great sadness and loss at the death of Jesus, John is the first to experience the hope given by the Resurrection of Jesus. He was there for the betrayal, the jeering crowd, the bloody walk to Calvary, and the abandonment and death on the Cross. John was there for the burial and sealing of the tomb. He is the first to believe. The celebration of Easter today is a time for all people to re-awaken their hope in the Jesus Christ. The world offers many distractions and there is much tragedy, pain and suffering in this world. Almost every person wishes something were better in their lives. This feast reminds every person that no matter what is happening in life, no matter how tragic or painful, there is hope. The fact that Christ was able to overcome death and rise from it, tells us there is a life after this one; there is a place where there is no more pain or suffering; there is a place of eternal love and happiness for each person. Christ gave the ultimate sacrifice for each person alive today, no matter how good or bad. He died for the love of us and because of that, eternal love and redemption are available to every person. As Paul said in the first reading today: "If we have died with Christ, we believe we shall also live with him...we know that Christ raised from the dead, dies no more; death no longer has power over him...you too, must think of yourselves as being dead to sin and living for God in Christ Jesus."

4 Archdiocese of Philadelphia Office of the Archbishop As we close in on the date for the World Meeting of Families and the Holy Father s visit, I often hear two questions: How can I be involved? and How can I help? Many of our people want to be involved in some way, and of course we need all the help we can get. First, I urge all of you, individuals and families, to attend the World Meeting of Families Congress. Registration for both the Adult and Youth Congress sessions is open on th World Meeting of Families/ Philadelphia 2015 website, You ll find a variety of registration package options, and detailed information about each session. Second, please give serious consideration to hosting a family and opening your home to pilgrims. This is one of our greatest needs. There simply aren t enough hotel rooms in our region for the many people who will come to Philadelphia later this year. We ve partnered with Homestay, an international organization with a strong reputation and high level of expertise, to help us with this initiative. They ve designed an online portal specifically for the World Meeting of Families, where host families can register a room, multiple rooms or a whole apartment or home, to be used by visitors. The website will then be opened to visitors who can search for available rooms and request to stay there for a period of time during the World Meeting of Families. You can learn more by visiting the Host a Family page of Third, become a World Meeting of Families/ Philadelphia 2015 volunteer. We need more than 8,000 volunteers for a wide range of tasks. Our volunteers will be the face of the Archdiocese to people from around the globe this fall, so this job is vital to our efforts. Volunteer registration will soon open on the World Meeting of Families website, Every volunteer must be at least 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen, and must complete an online background check. On the website you can read more about the different volunteer jobs available and soon begin the registration process. Fourth, the historic events that will take place this year in Philadelphia demand not only a great deal of work, but also the money resources to match. Fundraising falls largely on the shoulders of the host diocese. We re more than halfway to our goals. But with a massive effort like World Meeting of Families, we need all the financial help we can get. Every financial contribution is greatly appreciated.
