J ANUARY 2016 Knights Line My Brother Knights, Vivat Jesus! The Annual Adult Christmas party was poorly attended by our members, but those that did attend certainly had a good time. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to our DJ for the evening, Bill Shoemaker. The Annual Children's Christmas party was cancelled due to lack of children. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to all of those who helped with the packing and distributing of the Christmas food baskets. Any toys that were collected for the Kids party were distributed with the Food baskets with any left over donated to Charity. My gratitude goes out to George and Pat Wingert who chaired the event. The Building Board and Hall Management are looking for individuals to bartend in the Hall for our rental events. If interested, please speak to the Hall manager or call 586-771-9670 and leave a message and phone number. At the January 3rd degree meeting, a vote will be taken to change the meeting time of the 3rd degree meeting to 7:00 pm instead of 8:00 pm. Hopefully everyone had a Blessed Christmas and enjoyed the start of the New Year. THIS IS MY BODY (46 TH in a Series) A certain priest named Plegile in the 15 th Century in France asked of our Lord the favor to be permitted to see Him with his bodily eyes in the Holy Eucharist. From an ardent love, it was granted. During Mass this priest knelt down and besought our Lord as an infant. Full of joy and reverence, this miracle was also witnessed by many other persons in the church. HOLY FAMILY CIRCLE #981 DAUGHTERS OF ISABELL Let us take the time during the busy Holiday Season and cherish those who we have in our lives. And share a little giving to those who are less fortunate. And remember it is not about what we have, it s who we have. Love one another and don t be afraid to tell our love ones how much we love them and appreciate them. Say a prayer for all those who are not as lucky as we are. I send my love to each of you and wish you a blessed Christmas and the best New Year 2016 you could ever have. May God Bless you all. Karen Wojcik, Regent RTL UPDATE: U.S. Senate votes to defund Planned Parenthood On December 3 the U.S. Senate voted 52-47 to repeal major parts of Obamacare and place a one-year moratorium on most taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood. This is the first time in history either issue has been passed by both houses of Congress. President Obama has indicated that he will veto the legislation - Dismemberment abortion bills advance to House floor, Protecting unborn children from the brutality of dismemberment abortions is a legislative priority for Michigan. On November 10, the Michigan House Criminal Justice Committee advanced the bills to the floor by a 5-3 vote. Make plans now to attend the 2016 March for Life in Washington, D.C., on January 22. Knights of Columbus BENEFITS NEWS Insurance check-up for 2016 Can you believe it will soon be 2016? I hope that 2015 was a healthy, prosperous year for you and your family. It s said that time flies, and the older we get, the more that statement seems true. As we review the past year and prepare to welcome a new one, we wonder where the time goes. If you re like most people, you ve made some resolutions for 2016. If I may, I d like to make two suggestions regarding your resolutions. First, write them down. A resolution is really a goal for the year and, until you commit a goal to writing, it s nothing more than a wish. Writing a resolution down is the first step towards achieving it. Whether your goal is to lose weight, contribute more time and money to charity, read more or watch less television, you re more likely to accomplish it if you write it down. Second, schedule some time to visit with me, your professional Knights of Columbus insurance agent. The insurance check-up that I ll provide (free of charge, by the way!) will quickly identify any gaps in your family s life insurance program. And you ll want to fill those gaps now, not later. Because unlike many other products, you need more than money to obtain life insurance. You also need good health, and no one will ring a bell warning you when your health is about to change. Knights of Columbus life insurance offers something precious few other financial products can guarantee. As long as you pay your premiums, the policy proceeds will be there for your beneficiaries should something happen to you. We call that peace of mind, and that s (as they say in the credit card commercials) priceless. In Christ, *Receive a complete Family Needs Analysis at my expense. First - the Standing Officers have been excused from formal dress during the warm weather months. We are now back to tuxedos for the winter months. The remaining elected officers are to dress Business Casual for Assembly Meetings. Jeans and T-shirts are not accepted attire. Second - I want to remind all Elected Officers that three unexcused absences during a Fraternal Year could lead to removal from office.
