Proverbs 6:1-35 Literal English Translation Proverbs 1:8-9:18 The Proverbs of Solomon: Wisdom Speeches Proverbs 6:1-19 The Instruction Concerning the Principles of Responsibility: The Ninth Speech Proverbs 6:1-5 The Participation with the Debts of Others Proverbs 6:1-2 The Counsel of Solomon (1) My son, if you are a guarantee for your neighbor, if you have struck your palms with the stranger (2) you have been trapped in the sayings of your mouth; you have been captured in the sayings of your mouth. Proverbs 6:3-5 The Commands for Deliverance (3) Do this then, my son, and deliver yourself because you have come into the hand of your neighbor: go, humble yourself and press your neighbor. (4) Do not give sleep to your eyes, and slumber to your eyelids. (5) Deliver yourself like a gazelle from a hand of a hunter, and like a bird from the hand of the bird trapper

Proverbs 6:1-35 Literal English Translation Proverbs 6:6-11 The Practices of the Lazy Man Proverbs 6:6-8 The Consideration of the Ant (6) Go to the ant, lazy bones; observe its ways and be wise; (7) who, has no leader, officer and ruler, (8) it prepares in the summer its food, it has gathered in the harvest its substance. Proverbs 6:9-11 The Consequences for the Lazy Man (9) Until when, lazy bones, will you lie down? When will you rise up from your sleep? (10) A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to lie down; (11) and your poverty will have come like a traveler, and your need like a man with shield. Proverbs 6:12-15 The Persuasion of the Wicked Person (12) A man of corruption, a man of iniquity, going around with a crooked mouth, (13) winking with his eyes, speaking with his foot, teaching with his fingers. (14) Perversities are in his heart; while plotting evil at all of the time, he spreads contentions.

Proverbs 6:1-35 Literal English Translation (15) On account of this, suddenly his disaster will come; suddenly he will be broken and there is no healing. Proverbs 6:16-19 The Problems of Character (16) Behold six things Yahweh has hated; and, seven are abominations to his being; (17) Arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, and hands shedding innocent blood, (18) a heart plotting wicked thoughts, feet hurrying to run to the evil, (19) He breathes out lies, a witness of falsehood, and spreading contentions between brothers. Proverbs 6:20-35 The Instruction Concerning the Penalty for Adultery: The Tenth Speech Proverbs 6:20-24 The Protection of Wisdom Proverbs 6:20-21 The Commandment of Solomon (20) Keep, My son, the commandment of your father, and do not forsake the instruction of your mother. (21) Bind them upon your heart continually; tie them around your neck. Proverbs 6:22-24 The Compensations of Wisdom (22) In your going, it shall lead you; in your lying down, it will watch over you; and you will have awakened, it will talk to you.

Proverbs 6:1-35 Literal English Translation (23) Because the commandment is a lamp, and the law a light; and reproofs of discipline are a way of life, (24) to guard you from the woman of evil, from the smoothness of the tongue of the foreign woman. Proverbs 6:25-35 The Punishment for Adultery Proverbs 6:25-26 The Consequences for Adultery (25) Do not lust after her beauty in your heart, and do not let her capture you with her eyelids, (26) Because on account of a prostitute woman, a man is brought to a loaf of bread, and another wife of a man hunts for the precious soul. Proverbs 6:27-29 The Comparison of Adultery (27) Can a man take fire in his bosom and his garments not be burned? (28) Or can a man walk upon hot coals and his feet not be burned? (29) So is the one going into the wife of his neighbor; anyone touching her will not be innocent.

Proverbs 6:1-35 Literal English Translation Proverbs 6:30-32 The Contrast of Adultery (30) They will not despise the thief, if he steals to fill his soul when he is hungry. (31) But when he is found, he will repay seven times; he will give all the goods of his household. (32) He who commits adultery with a woman is lacking heart; he who does it is destroying his own soul. Proverbs 6:33-35 The Condemnation of Adultery (33) A wound and dishonor he will find, and his disgrace will not be blotted out. (34) Because jealousy is the rage of a man, and he will not spare in the day of vengeance. (35) He will not forgive in the face of any bribe, and he will not be willing when you will multiply gifts.
