St. Peter Parish From the Director of Faith Formation Cambridge, MA Spring is the season for the Sacraments of Initiation. Many of our young parishioners have been preparing for several years to receive Eucharist for the first time or to be confirmed. This Saturday, 51 children and their parents will attend a 1st Communion Retreat. They will experience hands on the real and tactile aspects of the Mass: making unleavened bread, crushing grapes to make wine, and re-enacting the Last Supper. They will also tour the inside of the church, our worship space, and they will make banners, to be displayed at their 1st Communion Masses, with symbols of the Eucharist. The retreat is the highlight of their learning year, which culminates in their liturgies the weekends of May 8th and 15th. On April 13th, 25 of our high school students, from St. Peter s and the Francophone Catholic Community, will be confirmed at St. John the Evangelist Church, along with students from St. John s and St. Paul s. Each will bring his or her God-given graces and talents to our community, the wider Church, and the world. I have no doubt that God s love, mercy, and justice will manifest itself in the lives of these fully initiated young people throughout their entire lives. God s Holy Spirit works in exactly that way! This is a season for our entire parish community to celebrate the vitality of our Catholic Church! Please pray for those receiving 1st Communion and being confirmed and share in their joy! LIFT Worship Night - All Ages! This event is free to attend and open to all ages. Coffee and Refreshments - Join Us After the 9 a.m. Sunday Mass Please Join Us in the Parish Center Come down to the parish center after Mass and enjoy freshly brewed coffee, juice, fruit and baked goods. Meet friends and welcome new people! Please Contribute Your Baked Goods! Pope Tweets @Pontifex Aging in Grace Retreat Saturday, April 16, 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Mount Carmel Villa, Nahant The Women s Table of the Sisters of St. Joseph is sponsoring a day-long retreat designed for women 35-85+ years. Aging in Grace will consider aging as a gift. We will deepen our knowledge and acceptance of self and God or a Higher Power in a reflective and freeing way. If you are in transition, mid-life, facing retirement or just desirous of growth, this retreat is for you! The cost is $25.00 for the day or $40.00 overnight. To register, please call Mary Rita Weschler at 617-746-2056 or email womens.table@csjboston.org. To be merciful means to grow in a love which is courageous, generous and real. March 26, 2016 If we open ourselves up to accept God s mercy for ourselves, in turn we become capable of forgiveness. April 2, 2016 4

We make no distinction in who we serve. We are a Catholic lay organization of men and women dedicated to loving our neighbors through helping them with their needs. We are organized locally as our own SVDP conference at St. Peter Parish. All year we are called to make the true meaning of Easter come alive in our hearts and in our families by reaching out to those in need. We count on your generous support to fulfill our mission. You will find SVDP donation boxes at the church doors. If you need help or know of anyone who does, please call the parish office in confidence (617-547-4235 x12) and a member of our ministry will respond as soon as possible.
