Klock Connections A Klock Family Newsletter Issue 93 April 2009 Publisher: David Klock E mail: Daveanddarla2000@yahoo.com P.O. Box 402 Web Page: www.klockconnections.com Marcellus, Michigan 49067 Home Phone: 269 646 3085 Internet. Check out his web page. He has designed over 20 web sites using Photoshop or another graphical designing program. Carsen also has also designed 7 different skateboards and is working on more designs. In his spare time, when he is not in school he plays the guitar. I plan to go to college for a major in graphic design, Carsen told me in his emails. Carsen Klock is 17, in the 11 grade. He is the son of Jeffery A., (Joseph Francis, George Edward, William Edward, Edward E., John David, David Clock, Jacob Conrad Clock, Conrad Clock and Hendrick Klock) and Susanne Keithley Klock. Hello!, My name is Carsen Klock and I am a indie web designer/developer. I also do game/desktop development. I have over 5 years of Photoshop expertise and over 3 years of XHTML/CSS. My passion is for web design and development; I am normally always available to create a site for anyone. I am also an average guy, I like to snowboard, skateboard & ski, motorcycle, go offroading, and hang with friends. I currently live in McCall, Idaho and love it there. According to his web page www.carsenklock.com You can find his name and designs on the My father (Jeff Klock) works as the maintenance/supervisor at Brundage Mountain Resort, Carsen told me in his e mails. Brundage Mountain Resort is a Ski Resort about 8 miles from McCall, Idaho overlooking the Village of Payette Lake. My mother (Susanne Klock) works as the manager at Accommodation Services, according to his e mails. I contacted Carsen last month, I wanted to see if I could find his line. Carsen could not tell me very much about his line, but gave me some e mail contacts of others in his family. I contacted them and they were very helpful. They sent me a lot of information about their family which descend from the Klock/Clock s of St. Catharines, Ontario.

live in Corvallis, Oregon. John is an Associate Professor in Life Sciences. Mary Lou married Dean Labdon of Yakota Air Force Base, Japan. Their mother Lois passed away April 28, 2008 in Colorado Springs at the age of 80. Alfred Jarvis and Maud Caywood Klock With Dorothy and Chester Follow Up to Issue 44 of Klock Connections In March of 2005, Issue 44 of Klock Connections, there was an article about John Klock and his family. In that article I said I would let you know his line when I was able to find it. I had pretty much forgotten about it until I found an obituary of Lois Klock. While searching for the line of Lois, I found the connection to John. Lois was John s mother. Lois Irene (Rosentreter) Klock was born in Oak Harbor, Ohio on July 16, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Norton and Emma (Fisher) Rosentreter. After graduating from Oak Harbor High School in 1945, Lois obtained a nursing degree and worked as an army nurse with WWII veterans at Flower Hospital, Toledo, Ohio. Lois moved to Washington D.C. to work with WOL Radio where she earned the call name, "Lois Lane." Lois loved Colorado and eventually returned to work at KBOL Radio in Boulder. She also worked for KRDO Radio in Colorado Springs and gained the nickname, "Rosie." She met Donald L. Klock while working in Boulder and they were married. Donald and Lois had five children. The marriage ended in divorce and Donald married twice more. Lois never remarried and spent her time raising the five children: Chyme who is a school teacher in North Canton, Ohio and is married to Doug Burnham, David lives in Lehi, Utah and is a Realtor. Michael married Robin and is a school teacher in Wapakoneta, Ohio, John and his wife Lygia now Don Klock, lives in Wapakoneta, Ohio with his third wife, Mary. Don, who is now 80, with no plans for retirement, owns and runs a company called Don Klock & Association in Wapakoneta, Ohio where he makes party and reunion ribbons. I had talked with Don in 2005 when I was working on the newsletter article about his son. I decided to give Don another call. Don receives this newsletter and forwards it to others in his family. I also called and talked with his daughter, Chyme. They told me to contact Darlene Brumley. Darlene lives in California and does the Genealogy for the family. Darlene is the daughter of Chester Klock, Don s brother. Don gave me her phone number so I gave Darlene a call. We talked for a while and exchanged e mail addresses. Darlene sent me quite a bit of information she had collected, including pictures, birth, marriage, death records and obituaries. She sent me the picture that is on the front page of her grandparents; Alfred Jarvis Klock and his wife, Maud, Chester and Aunt Dorothy. Aunt Dorothy died when she was about 16, according to Darlene. Alfred was born September 03, 1881. He was the adopted son of Jarvis L. Klock. Jarvis married Elizabeth Schwinler, the daughter of Charles and Maria "Briss" Schwinler. Elizabeth s first husband was Henry Ortel. After Henry died she married Jarvis L. Klock and on Feb. 6, 1894, Alfred Ortel became Alfred Jarvis Klock. Alfred married Maud Amelia Caywood on July 11, 1912. Alfred Jarvis Klock and Maud had four children; Dorothy and Chester, Jarvis and Don. Darlene Brumley told me she researches the Ortel line, because Alfred was the adopted son of Jarvis L. Klock. Continued Next Page

Follow Up to Issue 44 of Klock Connections To me a Klock is a Klock. You cannot choose your children, but in the case of adoption, you can, and then that choice is made from a special kind of love. Just how many Klocks in my family tree were not Klock s is anyone s guess. Years ago adoptions were never recorded, except maybe in a Family Bible. People died from awful plagues and diseases that today would be cured with a dose of antibiotics and there were a lot of orphaned children. These children would be raised by an Aunt, Uncle, Grandparent, God parent, or close friend, or neighbor. Sometimes the adoptive parent would change the name of the child without going through a legal type adoption. So there could be a lot of Klocks on my tree that were not born a Klock, but adopted by a Klock Family and no record ever recorded of this adoption. So to me, Alfred Jarvis Ortel Klock, is a Klock and deserves placement in my Klock Family Tree along with his descendants. But for the genealogical records, I have put the fact that Alfred was adopted in the note section of my family tree. The Ashley Connection Calvin Ashley was born in Massachusetts in 1878. He married Minnie House, the daughter of Henry House and Anna Perrine. Henry was the son of Daniel House and Rosanna Hayes. Rosanna was the daughter of Henry I. Hayes and Polly Davis. Henry Hayes was the son of John H. Hayes and Elizabeth Bellinger. Elizabeth was the daughter of Adam Bellinger and Magdalana Timmerman and Magdalana was the daughter of George Timmerman or Zimmerman and Anna Elizabeth Klock and Elizabeth was the daughter of Johannes J. Klock who was the son of Hendrick Klock ) Calvin Ashley and Minnie House were married by Pastor Hogan of the St. John's Reformed Church, St. Johnsville, New York. Calvin and Minnie had five children. Calvin Jr., Richard, Robert, Joseph and Alice. Calvin L. Ashley, Jr. was born March 25, 1907 and served in WW II. He was inducted into the Army November 19, 1943, and was sent to Fort Belvoir, Va., for basic training. In June, 1944, he was sent to Camp Reynolds and ten on July 23 he embarked for England with the 179 Engineers Combat Battalion. Calvin died 18 Jan 2002 and is buried in Ingham Mills Cemetery in Little Falls, New York. Richard Ashley was born April 16, 1908. He married Ruth Collins and they had four children; Richard Jr., Carolyn, William and Rober. I don t have much information on Richard. Social Security Death Index has Richard s last residence as 21795 Williamsport, Washington, Maryland; Born: 16 Apr 1908 Died: 25 Aug 1997. I could not find any military information on Richard. Robert Ashley was born March 8, 1909 and was a Doctor. Dr. Robert Ashley volunteered and entered the Army Medical Corps as a 1 st lieutenant on September 23, 1942. He reported to Westover Field, Mass., for indoctrination and then spent six months at the Army Air Base at Richmond, Va. He embarked for England in April, 1943, with an engineer s aviation battalion and was there attached to the 137 th General Hospital at Elsmere. Except for a brief assignment in some of the German concentration camps he remained in England until he returned to America in July, 1945. He was separated from the Army at Fort Dix on March 11, 1946, with the rank of major. Dr. Ashley married Vivien MacCaughan. They had two children; James Continued Next Page

The Ashley Connections Continued and Genevieve. According to the Social Security Death Index, Robert died September 7, 1994. His last residence is given as 13365 Little Falls, New York. Joseph Ashley was born October 07, 1911 and died March of 1980 according to the Social Security Death Index. His last residence is given as 30033 Decatur, Dekalb, Georgia. Joseph married Christine Duncan and they had two children; Joseph Jr. and Jeffery. Alice Ashley was born December 10, 1914. And died April 14, 1997 in New Bedford, Massachusetts. She married Alfred Francoeur. Alfred was born May 02, 1907 and died April 14, 1997, according to the Massachusetts Death Index and the Social Security Death Index. I do not know if they had any children. I have put the fact that he was adopted in my notes section of my tree. And for the record, Alfred Jarvis Klock was the son of Jarvis L. Klock (Sanford, John H., Henrick Johannes, Johannes and Hendrick Klock) and Elizabeth Schwinler. That s about all I got on this Ashley Connection.
