Arthur Chancellor A. Rick Valladares II 504 495 2017 rick.valladares@la.gov A Prayer for the Leaders in our life Dear God, I stop and think of those who are leaders in my life... in my home... in my work... in my country... in the world... Perhaps there is someone I find it hard to think of with love. I hand over to you any anger or fear I feel. In this moment, I send them love. However I feel about them, in this moment, I see your love flowing through me to them. Dear God, I ask you to feed these people on your wisdom and your understanding, for their good and for the good of all they serve. Let them recognize and take the authority that is theirs to take. Thank you God for guiding them every step of the way. Amen Words from our Lord Matthew 5:44, 46, NIV I tell you: Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? ARCHBISHOP BLENK COUNCIL 1905 JUNE 2016 3 Ladies Auxiliary Vicki Fogarty Past President 400-2783 Email: vickimikie@gmail.com Hello everyone, Our elections were held at the May meeting and the new officers are as follows: President: Darnell LeBlanc Vice President: Peggy LeBlanc Treasurer: Cheryl d Hemecourt Recording Secretary: Pam Falgoust Corresponding Secretary: Pat Holt Board Member: Vicki Fogarty Our next meeting is on June 15th. The installation of new officers will be held with the Knights installation on Saturday, June 18th. Pray to the Blessed Mother for Peace, Vicki A Message from Deacon Francis Offia Priesthood: Unmerited Privilege and Never A Right In Months, Weeks and Days leading to the actual day of my priestly ordination, I have received tons and tons of congratulatory and goodwill messages from countless number of people. I feel so awed that these many people are reaching out to me with the spirit of joy and jubilation. It reveals to me how extremely happy men and women could be when God is doing something great in our midst. But on a flipside of it, I will forever see my ordination to the priesthood as an unmerited privilege from God. It is not something I have a right to! Neither is it a reward for many years spent in the seminary formation. Furthermore, it is not something we get in return for studying Philosophy and Theology. Nothing qualifies any man to share in the ministerial priesthood of Christ. Indeed, one who is nobody in God s eye, is ordain to the priesthood through the invocation of the Power of the Holy Spirit. This is made clear from the prayer of ordination when the bishop prays: Almighty Father, grant to these servants of yours the dignity of the priesthood. Renew within them the Spirit of holiness. As a coworkers with the order of bishops may they be faithful to the ministry that they receive from you, Lord God, and be to others a model of right conduct. May they be faithful in working with the order of bishops, so that the words of the Gospel may reach the ends of the earth, and the family of nations, made one in Christ, may become God's one, holy people It is the Lord s doing and it is marvelous in our sight!!! As we present ourselves to God and His Church this weekend to be ordained to the priesthood, pray for me and my fellow ordinands that we may live out our priesthood with love, commitment and devotion, recognizing always that our ordination is completely an unmerited privilege from God. Dear Francis Offia Pro Life Corner - Don & Dee Caskey Home 341-4512 or Cell 884-0101 dcaskey53@yahoo.com Brother Knights, I recently reminded you of Uncle Paul's favorite expression " I am Knights of Columbus". Now as we prepare to start a new Columbian Year we should renew in our selves the commitment that we all made when we became knights, that is to serve the Lord. As knights we best do it through the various K of C service programs or ministry in our church. However we serve, it is a witness to the strength and integrity of ourselves and our order. Gentlemen I am now asking that in this coming year YOU, a Knight of Columbus expand your service and assist in the service activities of our councils and churches. All our functions need fuel and that is what you provide with your help. Don't rely on the other guy or committee, because they can all use help. Our Council is financially blessed, primarily by the efforts of a few brothers working for a few hours on Saturdays. Our council's memorial masses are embarrassing with the lack of brothers that turn out. We have a large number of activities that only require your being there. Quite often I will attend a Prolife activity and if I were asked if I or the knights are Prolife I can truly answer "I AM" and sadly be quite literal. Yours in Christ Don and Dee Caskey
