We have heard in recent weeks Fr. Mike Schmitz s message that we need to not leave the Church but to lead the Church. It takes all the faithful of our Church to evangelize the faith, to share the joy of the Gospel across society. We are called to witness to our families, co-workers and friends. This weekend we pray for those catechists who are witnessing the love of Jesus Christ. May we share this love and help everyone experience that joy in Christ! Amen? Amen! A Catechist s Prayer Father of all families, you have called me to serve the family in truth and love as a catechist. May I be faithful to this call, rooted in your Word, and open to the gifts of the Holy Spirit. May I use these gifts, especially the gifts of faith, hope, and love, to serve the family as a witness to you, who are love and life and the source and destiny of all families. Let your Spirit enlighten my mind and strengthen my heart so that I can be a path of Christ s love to families, especially those in need, the homebound and aged, the disabled and disheartened. Through the intercession of Mary and Joseph, I pray for the Church, the Bride of Christ, whose mission to build a civilization of love passes through the family. Amen. E ASTSIDE FAITH 6 RCIA THIS WEEK Please pray for all of those journeying to full Communion with the Catholic Church! This week s RCIA lesson is THE TRINITY, FAITH, and the GOD who is LOVE. This session will cover: The God who is Love the mystery of the Holy Trinity Why God made us and the relationship he wants to have with us How faith is our response to God s invitation How to live our relationship with God: three practical tips for prayer Questions for the week: How do you define faith? What is prayer? What fears or hesitations might you have about following Jesus in your life? What are some practical ways you can make more time for prayer this week? To study along with us, please log onto Formed.org (parish code YX2P22), program = Symbolon: Knowing the Faith ~ Session Catholic FAQs Why do we have two Creeds? We normally say the Nicene Creed at Mass, although The Apostles Creed is often used during Baptisms. So why do we have two creeds, or basic statements of faith, handed down from the early Church, since both proclaim belief in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit? It has to do with clarity. The Apostles Creed is one of the earliest creedal statements of Christian belief originally used in Rome for Baptisms. By 325 AD, the Nicene Creed in its original form was written to address questions that arose about the Holy Trinity and Christ s divinity. The Church preserves both of these traditions, using the Apostles Creed at Baptisms and the Nicene Creed ordinarily at Sunday Masses and major feasts. PREP Registrations for 2018/2019 Registrations for the 2018/2019 PREP (Parish Religious Education Program) sessions are now available. Please register online at www.eastsidefaith.org/prep. You can choose from classes on Sundays at St. Anthony (9:45 11 AM) or at St. Cecilia (8:30 9:45 AM). Please direct all questions to Cody Egner at cegner@eastsideregion.org or 513-871-5757, ext. 215. The first class is on Sunday, Sept. 23. Register your 7th-8th Grader for Confirmation Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation will begin on October 7. All students wanting to be confirmed this year need to register for the newly created Confirmation Preparation Program. To read more about the new preparation process and to register your child for Confirmation, visit www.eastsidefaith.org/confirmation. ALL students, regardless if they attend St. Cecilia School or not, need to register for the preparation program at the website listed above. Contact Cody Egner, cegner@eastsideregion.org, with any questions. If we may not remain silent about evil in the Church, then neither should we keep silent about the great shining path of goodness and purity which the Christian faith has traced out over the course of the centuries. Pope Benedict XVI Coming Soon: THE MASS A 6-week series featuring Bishop Robert Barron Mondays, September 24-November 5 7-8:30 PM in the St. Cecilia Commons Cost: $25.00 Walk through the Liturgy with Bishop Barron and be transformed through insights on this most privileged and intimate encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ. See how the Mass brings us out of the fallen world and into the heavenly realm, how it resonates with a call from God and a response from his people, the Church, and, most importantly, how we are intimately joined with the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus through the Holy Eucharist. The Mass will help you understand how to fully participate in the source and summit of the Christian life. Contact Cody Egner, cegner@eastsideregion.org, for more information. And they were called to one another: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory. Isaiah 6:3
