(This is only a brief summary of what Christ is to us. If we would list them all, "I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen." John 21:25. In writing this I could not stop as I continued to see what Christ is to us!) Our Advocate "Advocate" means lawyer. Christ is our attorney and lawyer before God our Father. He pleads our cause before God. "My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." (1 John 2:1) Our Mediator Christ is our Mediator. He is the one who goes between us and God and is the one who reconciles us to God. The bible says that there is only one Mediator between us and God who is Christ Jesus our Lord. "For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus." (1 Timothy 2:5) Our High Priest Christ is our High Priest. He ever lives to make intercession for us. He sympathizes with us and prays for us. 1

"Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted." (Hebrews 2:17-18) "Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews 4:14-16) "Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them." (Hebrews 7:25) Our Redeemer Christ is the one who redeemed us from our sins and made us free and who ransomed us by his blood. "Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot." (1 Peter 1:18-19) "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree )," (Galatians 3:13) Our Friend Christ is our true friend. He "sticks closer than a brother" and is there for us 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. "A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." (Proverbs 18:24) 2

"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you." (John 15:13-15) Our Savior Christ is our Savior. He is the One who died for us and saved us from our sins. "And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins." (Matthew 1:21) "And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world." (1 John 4:14) Our King Christ is our King. He is the "King of Kings" and "Lord of Lords." Have you paid homage to Him? "And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS." (Revelation 19:16) Our Prophet Christ is our Prophet. Christ is "The Prophet" whom Moses spoke of in the Old Testament. God used to speak through the prophets in the Old Testament but now He speaks to us only through His Son who is the ultimate Prophet. 3

"God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds." (Hebrews 1:1-2) "For Moses truly said to the fathers, The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people. " (Acts 3:22-23) "Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world. " (John 6:14) Our Peace Christ is our peace. Like the bumper sticker says: "No Jesus, no peace; know Jesus, know peace." He is the One who gives us peace in our hearts in this world full of trouble and anxiety. "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. " (John 16:33) "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (John 14:27) Our Joy Christ is the One who gives us joy and lifts us up when were are down. "These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full." (John 15:11) 4

Our Life Christ is our life. He is the One who gives meaning to our lives. He is One who gives us eternal life. "When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory." (Colossians 3:4) "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." (John 10:10) "He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." (1 John 5:12) "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand." (John 10:28) Our Guide Christ is our guide. He leads us "in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake" (Psalm 23:3). He is the only way to the Father and the only way to Heaven. "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6) "For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father." (Ephesians 2:18) Our Truth "What is truth?," Pilate said in John 18:38. Jesus is the truth. Ever wonder which religion is the truth? Jesus is the embodiment of truth. He is "the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6). 5

"Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6) "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:14) "For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." (John 1:17) Our Shepherd Christ is our good shepherd. He cares for His sheep and He gave His life for His sheep. He seeks us out and brings us back when we go astray. "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want." (Psalm 23:1) " I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep." (John 10:11) "I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep." (John 10:14-15) Our Light Christ is our light. He is the "light of the world." Are you living in darkness? Christ can give you light. "Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life. " (John 8:12) 6

Our Security Christ is our security. There is no security in this world but uncertainty. Christ is our security. He gives us eternal security and no one who believes in Him will perish or be snatched out of His hand. "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father s hand." (John 10:27-29) Our Freedom Christ is our freedom. "Would you be free from the burden of sin? There's power in the blood!" Are you tired of being a slave to your sins? Christ can make you free. "Jesus answered them, Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." (John 8:34-36) Our Example Christ is our example. Need a role model? Look no further! Christ is our great role model. He is perfection embodied. He is pure and spotless. "Following Him I know I'm right," as the song says. "He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked." (1 John 2:6) "By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren." (1 John 3:16) 7

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. " (John 13:34-35) "Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ." (1 Corinthians 11:1) Our Hope Christ is our hope. In this world there is nothing but gloom and despair. But Christ offers hope. He is our hope in this dark world. He gives us hope of being one day with Him and having everlasting life. "Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope." (1 Timothy 1:1) "Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ." (Titus 2:13) "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you." (1 Peter 1:3-4) Our Resurrection Christ is our resurrection. For a Christian, dead should not be feared. Christ is our "resurrection and life." "Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." (John 11:25) 8

Our Creator Christ is our Creator. Who is the One who made you in the womb? Who is the One who made the Heaven and the Earth? It is none other but the Lord Jesus! "All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made." (John 1:3) "And to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ." (Ephesians 3:9) "For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist." (Colossians 1:16-17) Our Head Christ is our Head. Christ is our Head and He is the Head of the church. Don't let anyone deceive you saying that the Pope is the Head of the church. No! The bible says that Christ is the Head of the church. "But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God." (1 Corinthians 11:3) "And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church." (Ephesians 1:22) "And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence." (Colossians 1:18) 9

Our Lord Christ is our Lord. He alone is worthy! Have you submitted to Christ your Lord? The day is coming when all will bow and "confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." "You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am." (John 13:13) "Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:9-11) Our God Christ is our God. He is the second person in the Holy Trinity. Thomas confessed to Christ saying "My Lord and my God!" "Then He said to Thomas, Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing. And Thomas answered and said to Him, My Lord and my God! " (John 20:27-28) "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1) "And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life." (1 John 5:20) Our All Christ is our all! He gives meaning to our lives. Without Him life is empty and worthless. 10

"For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain." (Philippians 1:21) "But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;" (Philippians 3:7-9) Jesus is all the world to me! Jesus is all the world to me, my life, my joy, my all; He is my strength from day to day, without Him I would fall. When I am sad, to Him I go, no other one can cheer me so; When I am sad, He makes me glad, He s my Friend. Jesus is all the world to me, my Friend in trials sore; I go to Him for blessings, and He gives them over and o er. He sends the sunshine and the rain, He sends the harvest s golden grain; Sunshine and rain, harvest of grain, He s my Friend. Jesus is all the world to me, and true to Him I ll be; O how could I this Friend deny, when He s so true to me? Following Him I know I m right, He watches o er me day and night; Following Him by day and night, He s my Friend. Jesus is all the world to me, I want no better Friend; I trust Him now, I ll trust Him when life s fleeting days shall end. Beautiful life with such a Friend, beautiful life that has no end; Eternal life, eternal joy, He s my Friend. www.preeminenceofchrist.org 11
