STEVE & CAROL LENTOROR River of Comfort Ministry-- Kenya Steve and Carol Lentoror, and their two boys Daniel and Nathan, are new Granada missionaries serving with River of Comfort Ministries in Narok, Kenya. River of Comfort Ministry (RCM) is a ministry to elders who need basic support and care. They provide short-term housing, food and basic medical care. RCM began when Carol with the support of her husband felt burdended by the lack of care that currently exists for the elderly of their village. Many of the elderly there live without shelter and many times have to sleep in the open and rely on strangers or foraging in the woods for food. RCM was then formed to help the elders in their community have a safe place to rest and food to eat. Steve and Carol were part of our church family since the summer of 2013 while Steve was finishing up his PhD studies at the Talbot School of Theology. The Lentoror s left for Kenya lasty year on Christmas Eve to continue to build up RCM. Here is what was said in a recent RCM newsletter: Since they ve been back so much has happened! Stephen s hard work has paid off and God is using him in mighty ways! He returned to the Bible college in his position as president and is so thankful for their support in getting the family here so he could attend Talbot. Stephen is spending time getting to know the students and speaking at chapels. Last month the shipping container many of you helped to fill with books and ministry supplies arrived in Kenya and is in its final resting place! They had help from the community and had the entire 40 foot container emptied in three hours. Carol recently invited some of the students over to try on much needed clothes and help her organize the supplies for the facility. God is providing for the family! Stephen also accepted a pastor position at a local church! Keep praying that the church and the family will come together and they can all serve with happy healthy hearts. Sermon Notes May 14, 2017 Mike Sanborn Topical Series Week 4 of 5 Belonging, Week 4 Who Members ARE: Citizens of the Eternal Kingdom of God Philippians 3:20; Ephesians 2:19; Hebrews 11:13-16 Ambassadors of God s Kingdom 2 Corinthians 5:20 ** Each Church is like an Embassy/Outpost of God s Kingdom in a Foreign Land ** Church membership is a way to make our citizenship official to everyone else What Members DO: 1. Meet Together Regularly Heb 10:24-25 2. Invest Emotionally in the Church Body Romans 12:10, 15; 1 Cor 12:26 3. Invest Financially in the Church s Work Acts 4:34-35; Rom 12:13; 1 Cor 9:13-14; 1 Tim 5:17-18 4. Submit to Moral Correction from the Church Matthew 18:15ff; Galatians 6:1 5. Do Your Part in the Church s Work 1 Cor 12:7; Eph 4:16 (1) Reflect on the Scriptures affirming that our true citizenship is in God s eternal kingdom, and that we are ambassadors of God s Kingdom in a foreign land (this world): Philippians 3:20; Ephesians 2:19; Hebrews 11:13-16; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21. (4) Reflect on Matthew 18:15-20 and Galatians 6:1. When should the church get involved in addressing sins committed by members? How should it be handled?
