April 11 th Council Meeting. April 15 th Pancake Breakfast Each month Knights contribute to the newsletter by forwarding notes and news. Much of what goes into the newsletter is also found on-line at the parish web-site and is broadcasted in flock-note form, church bulletins and from the pulpit. It would be of interest to all of the officers whether the newsletter in its current form has any relevancy or is just redundant information that you receive from other sources. Please respond to the editor whether you read the newsletter or it ends up in the delete box. Of course if it ends up on the other end of the trash bin on your computer that says a lot. Let us know either way by emailing the editor at Koleconsult@yahoo.com Should you have suggestions on other ways you would like to be contacted with Knights news and notes please let me know. *the editor* KNIGHTS FAMILY MASS REMINDER: Especially those Knights we have not seen in a while!!! Please join your Brother Knights and families on every first Sunday of the month. The Knights process into mass together with family members to worship and celebrate the Eucharist together as an integral part of the Holy Family faith community. All Knights and family members are encouraged to gather at 9:25 AM near the church entrance to process into church behind our banner. After mass, we sponsor and host donuts and coffee for all parishioners. This is a great opportunity for fellowship, conversation, and inviting others to join the Knights. Note: Breakfast on the 18 th this month. A big thank you to those of you who continue to volunteer at both the pancake breakfasts and donut Sundays. That also includes our ladies from the Knight s Ladies Auxiliary. They are a constant source of support in our efforts. A special thanks to those Knights who stepped forward to assist in serving refreshments during the Capital Campaign Kickoff. Your help was appreciated By Fr Kaim and the Campaign leadership. MEMBERSHIP DUES: It has been 3 months since 2018 dues notices have been mailed out. If that notice is still in your Bills to be paid box, please, help the council to remain solvent. Send in your dues today. Your 2018 payment has already been made to State and Supreme, so you are shorting the Council #13123 of funds that could be going to charitable efforts. Please return your dues either by mail or better yet, bring them to our next General Meeting. Being a Knight is truly an honor and comes with responsibilities. Our dues keep us ticking as a viable council on a local, statewide and national level. If you have not paid your annual $30.00 dues, now is the time! NOTE: For those Knights who either have medical issues and cannot attend events and wish to remain a Knight please LET US KNOW or those Knights who wish to forfeit your membership we need to know that as well. Contact our Financial Secretary John Willey at 815-226-3931 or john.willey@sbcglobal.net with any questions.

PRO-LIFE America's Problem is a Contempt for Life, Not a Love of Guns - Craig Bannister, www.cnsnews.com <http://www.cnsnews.com/>, The mass violence in the U.S. is more a reflection of contempt for the sanctity of human life than of a love for gun ownership. In a society that reveres human life, gun ownership isn't a chronic problem. Not so in a society that views human life as subjective and revocable; that condones, funds, and promotes abortion and excuses euthanasia; human life is cheap. When a woman has a right to kill an unwanted child growing inside her simply because it suits her to do so, life is robbed of its value. This It's a life if I want it to be, and it isn't if I don't mentality presumes that people have the right and power to play God with human life. If a husband has the right and power to prevent a hospital from continuing to feed his wife, starving her to death, Terry Schiavo, the message is clear: life can be extinguished by decree and desire. Today's entertainment and video games desensitize America's children (and adults) to the wanton, wholesale destruction of human life. People who believe human life is sacred do not extinguish it capriciously; they do everything in their power to preserve and protect it. Thus, when it comes to preventing mass violence, the answer is respect for life and self-control - not gun control. (https://tinyurl.com/y8s9cnat) Let s not lie to ourselves that tighter gun restrictions...will solve the problem. We ve lost our respect for human life on a much broader scale, and this [school shooting] is the utterly predictable result. +Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., Archbishop of Philadelphia (https://tinyurl.com/yay29xej <https://tinyurl.com/yay29xej>) Guns feed death culture? What about abortion? - John Kass, Chicago Tribune, writes, Those high school students in Florida had a right to live, yes, but what about the lives of millions of unborn taken in abortions? Do some have more rights, because they are older and more powerful, leaving others with fewer or no rights because they cannot speak or use bullhorns to shout, to tell us that they, too, are alive? (https://tinyurl.com/mnodwuf <https://tinyurl.com/mnodwuf>) Free Throw Championship The District 48 winners of the competition are as follows: Girls: Ava Lassandro (11yrs) 1 st place, Ella Lassandro (13yrs). Boys: Simon Stewart (9 yrs) 1 st place, Owen Beaulieu ( 11 yrs) 1 st place, issac Stewart (12 yrs) 1 st place, and Nolan Brauns (14 yrs) 1 st place. Congratulations to all the winners!! Come see all of the winners on March 18 at the Mellinger Center at 12:30PM as they compete in the Region 1 Knights competition. ATTRACTING NEW MEMBERS: If you know someone in our parish who is a practicing Catholic and would make a good Knight, ask them to join! It is a privilege to be a Knight. Talk to your friends about what we do to support our parish and community. Ask them if they are ready to join the brotherhood to transform their lives, their church and community. Casino Trip April 7, 2018 Brothers, please read the Casino trip flyer at the end of this newsletter. A good opportunity to have fun with your significant others or friends. All are welcome; so invite friends, neighbors and anyone who wishes to have a day of fun. COMMENTS OF THE GRAND KNIGHT Please note the date change for the pancake breakfast. Plan on volunteering for the pancake breakfast and then head over to the Free throw competition. We would like to see some new faces at both events. Step up your game Knights. Blessing, Frank Ramirez Grand Knight Council #13123 Musings of the Deputy Grand Knight Do you pray only for yourself? If so, your geography of prayer is pretty small tiny in fact! As Christians, we believe we are called upon to pray for the whole world, and as such the geography of our prayer should take in the whole world. We need those prayers now as we hear the world crying everyday. The geography of prayer is just one of millions of beautiful realities that make up our faith. C A S I N O K N I G H T S E E B E L O W
