Page 4 LOTKA Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Our Ladies meet on the first Thursday of the month and welcome new members. We have planned activities or a speaker at our meetings following the business portion. In December, we had our usual potluck dinner followed by a Chinese Auction, which is always fun. In January, we had our annual soup and Bingo night and thanks to many good cooks, we were able to sample about six different soups and relax together after the rush of the holidays. Our February meeting will be on Thursday, February 2nd and we will have our Death by Chocolate share of desserts that the ladies will bring in. This Christmas, we were happy to supply three baskets of toiletries, socks, lotions, books, pens/pencils, cards and many other essential items for a local nursing home. They were very pleased and appreciated getting these to share with their residents. Also, with the generosity of donations from some of the ladies and from our treasury, we were able to supply Santa to a needy family with three children who would not have been able to otherwise have gifts. In addition, we gave them a $150 gift card to help with food and other necessary items for the family. Also, after hearing of the family s situation, our Grand Knight, Mark Wray and Chris Klotz worked with me in filling out an application for a grant to help the family get back on their feet after having a major set-back. The Knights of Columbus grant paid for the family to get caught up on their rent and utilities and to start the New Year with hope and faith in the goodness of others. After many tears and words of thanks, our family expressed their appreciation to all of us. We are happy to say that LOTKA and our Council did what we are supposed to do as a Catholic organization reach out to those in need!!! Laura Reese
