Newsletter Page 2 of 6 Training Weekend The largest EVER Powder Horn and Kodiak Course Director Conference (CDC) weekend was hosted by on November 20 22 at Schiewetz Leadership Training Center at Camp Cricket Holler in Dayton, OH. With almost 100 Scouters and youth officers in attendance for a Kodiak CDC, Powder Horn CDC, and Kodiak X, this was an awesome networking opportunity. Participants and staff represented over 35 councils, all four regions, and 20 States. Kodiak/ Kodiak X CDC If you are planning on hosting a Kodiak course then you should attend a Kodiak CDC. As part of its recent training weekend, Central Region hosted the second largest Kodiak CDC ever held in the country. The course was conducted by both the Central and Southern Region Kodiak Coordinators. Topics included course standards and guidelines, course format, approval process, budgeting, staff selection & development, participant recruiting, logistics, etc. In addition, a number of actual Kodiak commissions were presented. Powder Horn CDC The Powder Horn CDC is for anyone interested in learning more about how to plan a Powder Horn course. Future course directors, assistant course directors, staff advisors, and other staff members make up the majority of our participants. The recent Central Region Powder Horn CDC was the largest ever held in the country with 35 participants. Topics included course standards and guidelines, course format, approval process, budgeting, staff selection & development, participant recruiting, logistics planning, program planning and instruction, administration, resource & give away items, crew guides, and program themes.
