July 2018 Knights of Columbus Bishop Arthur J. O Neill Fourth Degree Assembly #2381 The Patriotic Degree KofC2381.org Faithful Navigator Greetings Brother Sir Knights, It is with mixed feelings that I write to you for the last time at Faithful Navigator of this fine Assembly. I have been honored, humbled, and blessed to serve for the last two years. Thank you to all of you for your support, especially the Faithful Navigators who preceded me. Thanks also go to my family for their support and of course God for whom all things are possible. Thank you to all who participated in the Memorial Day weekend programs, placing flags on veterans gravesites followed by the annual Memorial Day Mass at Mt. St. Hope cemetery. Thank you also to those who participated in the various Corpus Christi honor guards, silently protecting the Eucharist. degree, so we can continue to do the good works we do. For those that I may have offended along the way, please accept my apologies. However, if someone was offended at something I did or said that I felt was for the good or the best interest of the order or the Catholic Church, then for that I am not sorry. May God bless each and every one of you and your families, and let us continue to be charitable, unified, fraternal, and patriotic in all things. For God, family, community, and country. SK Mark Halper (soon to be Past) Faithful Navigator Bishop Arthur J. O Neill Assembly # 2381 Next year promises to be a momentous year for the Bishop Arthur J. O Neill Assembly, hosting the fourth degree patriotic exemplification at St. Mary s in Huntley followed by the annual Clergy Appreciation Dinner. Our leadership will do an outstanding job, however they will need your help for success. Please come out and support our new officers at the installation immediately following the June meeting, family members are welcome to attend the installation. I cannot stress enough how important it is to bring new members into the 4 th

From the Editor You can check out our website at www.kofc2381.org Submissions for this newsletter are due to me NO LATER than the 3 rd Saturday of each month. Please submit your articles and photos (with taglines) to the editor. NEXT DUE DATE IS July 21 Looking ahead to the Exemplification in the fall, I ve attached the information and forms to the end of this newsletter. Something else for you to think about. My brother-in-law s father died this last week in Florida. He was a 4th Degree. I jumped on a plane with my regalia in tow (minus my sword, I figured that wouldn t go over well on the plane). After getting over the pirate comments about my chapeau (I had to hand carry it), I was honored to be in his honor guard. The Sir Knights of his assembly were very gracious to me and I greatly appreciated their sympathy and help. There were 10 Knights at the wake! Didn t catch their Assembly number, but I am very grateful for their response. I will find out there number and get a thank you off to them. Let this be a lesson to all of us. This is one of the important reasons that we are doing what we do as Sir Knights. My sister and brother-in-law and his widow (I ve known their family for over 40 years), were thrilled that I would go all the way there and be a part of his ceremonies. It really means a lot to the families of our departed brothers when we show up. Please consider participating in the next funeral for a brother, even if you didn t know him as well as I knew this one. By the way, let s see if anyone can top that I traveled 1,500+ miles via, car, bus, train, plane and rented car to get to an honor guard for a deceased brother! Send me your story and I ll be happy to publish it! SK Kevin W. Wright (224) 699-0599 KevinWarrenWright@gmail.com
