OVERVIEW CARD Key Question: Bottom Line: Memory Verse: Who can you count on? I can always count on God. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, for the Lord, your God goes with you. Deuteronomy 31:6, NIV Bible Story: God can keep you safe. Joshua 2:1-22, 6:1-25 Coloring Page: Rahab helps two spies. Music: Superhero Great Big God All My Heart Story: The Beginner s Bible A Wall Falls Down Pages 137 to 141 Service Time: 65 minutes

Tag What You Need: Large carpet square What You Do: Before the activity: Place the carpet square in the center of the playing area. During the activity: Choose one child to be it and ask the other children to hop around the room. Encourage the child who is it to skip around and try to tag their classmates. Anyone tagged should freeze. They remain frozen until another child who is not it touches them. To not be tagged the children can hop to the carpet square that will serve as base. After a few minutes, allow another child to be it. Continue as long as there s interest. Before the activity: Today in our Bible lesson we are going to hear an EXCITING story about people who God kept safe. First we are going to do a fun activity where we can hop around the room while [child s name] tries to tag us. If you are tagged, pretend that you are frozen! If you see someone frozen you can touch that person and they can play again. The big carpet square is our base, and if you go there you are safe. At the end of the activity: That was so much fun! In our lesson God is like our base He kept some very special people safe. Do you remember what happened in our Bible lesson today?

Hide and Seek What You Need: Small Duck Super Heroes What You Do: Play a game of hide and seek. Hide the small duck super heroes and have the children find them. During the activity: These are Super Ducks. They are going to hide and you re going to try and find them. Close your eyes while I count to 10 and hide them. At the end of the activity: You did a great job hiding and seeking! A woman named Rahab does a great job hiding some people in our Bible lesson today. She keeps them safe and hidden while mean guys are looking for them! Do you remember what happened?

Hiding in Rice Be sure to list the foods you will be using today on the Allergy Alert Poster from the Start Here tab on the Website and post it at the door to your room. What You Need: Large tub, uncooked rice, small toy ducks. What You Do: Before the activity: Place the ducks in the tub and pour the rice over them. During the activity: Allow three or four children at a time around the tub and allow them to use their hands and fingers to search for the ducks that are hiding in the rice. Before the activity: I have hidden some super hero ducks in this tub of rice. Can you help me find them? (Continue as long as there s interest.) At the end of the activity: Thank you so much for your help! We heard a story about someone who hid people, too. Do you remember what happened in our lesson today?

Spy Verse What You Need: CD player and The Pink Panther Theme by Henry Mancini. What You Do: Sneak around the room together, pretending to be spies, while listening to the The Pink Panther Theme. When you stop the music, everyone must do the courage pose and say the Memory Verse. Repeat as many times as desired. Before the activity: Rahab did a very courageous thing in our Bible lesson today. She hid the good spies from the mean guys. Let s pretend we are spies when we hear this music. (Play music.) When it stops (stop music), I want us all to do our most courageous pose and say our Memory Verse together. Are you ready to sneak around like spies? (Pause.) Here we go! (Continue as long as there s interest.) At the end of the activity: Rahab trusted God. She knew she could count on Him to do what He said. That gave her the courage to do something really SUPER. We can count on God, just like Rahab did. And when we do, He can use us to do SUPER things, too! Who can you count on? (Pause.) I can always count on God!

Who s Missing? What You Need: Colorful Spies from the Activity Pages on the Website, white cardstock, scissors, and a lightweight piece of fabric. What You Do: Before the activity: Make a copy of Colorful Spies from the Activity Pages onto the white cardstock and cut the spy pictures out. You will have eight spy pictures, each in a different color. During the activity: Lay the spy pictures face up on the floor or table. Review the colors of the spies with the children before you play the game. When you are ready to play, ask the children to take a good look at the spies and then cover them. Reach under and take one spy away. When you uncover the remaining spies, ask the children to guess which spy is missing. Continue as long as there s interest. During the activity: Our Bible lesson today had spies in it. They were taking a sneak peek at where God was sending His people. They almost got caught but someone was courageous enough to help them. Do you remember who that was? (Pause.) Rahab the Courageous! She hid the spies until it was safe to leave. I have a fun game we can play with these spies. I see a red spy (point to red spy) and a green spy (point to green spy). What color is this spy? What about this one? (Review all of the spy colors.) Now I ll cover the spies and take one away. (Uncover the spies.) Can you guess who s missing? (Continue as long as there s interest.) At the end of the activity: Rahab trusted God. She knew she could count on Him to do what He said. Her trust in God gave her the courage to do the right thing and it was SUPER! When we trust in God we can have courage, too! And then God can use us to do SUPER things, just like He did with Rahab. Yes, sir! You can count on God to do His part, for sure! Who can you count on? (Pause.) I can always count on God.

Parachute Fun What You Need: Large parachute What You Do: Instruct the children to stand around the parachute. Ask everyone to grab a section of the parachute. Instruct everyone to lift their arms while still holding the parachute. Then have the children bring their arms down. The parachute should balloon up and come down slowly. Do this several times. Then have the children go up once more and tell all of the girls to let go and go under the parachute and hide. With your help, have the boys bring the parachute over the girls to hid them and then back up. Do this several times. Then have the boys go back up and ask the girls to come back out and hold the parachute again. As all of the children go back up, allow the boys to go under and hide. Repeat as many times as desired. (Option: If you do not have an equal number of boy and girls in your classroom, you can call out individual names to go hide or categorize the children by the color of shirt or dress they are wearing.) Great hiding! You were just like the spies when Rahab hid them! God took care of the spies just like He takes care of us. Who can you count on? (Pause.) Absolutely! I can count on God!

CRAFT Super Hero Sticker Scene What You Need: Sticker Scene What You Do: Let the children create their very own Super Hero Sticker Scene. What an exciting Bible lesson today! We learned another way to be a SUPER KID in today s lesson. Remember, super s not in your arms or your legs or your brain. It s God living in you that does SUPER things! Do you remember what SUPER thing God did through Rahab? (Pause.) Yes! Rahab TRUSTED that God would do what He said He would do and it gave her the COURAGE to hide the good spies from the mean guys. Rahab knew she could count on God and so can you! Who can you count on? I can always count on God!
