Seeking Support from our Parish Community for The Incarnation Youth Ministry Members who will attend The Steubenville Catholic Youth Conference in Lowell, MA: Our Youth Ministry members will be available in the Narthex & Fr. Crawford Hall after all masses this weekend to accept your donations and if you wish to share their past experience at the conference. 26 members of our Incarnation Youth Ministry along with chaperones, will attend The Steubenville Catholic Youth Conference in Lowell, MA the weekend of July 15 17. This is our third summer attending, and our largest group yet! We are very excited about the desire of our youth to grow in their faith. The weekend includes powerful talks, workshops, and uplifting music. At the heart of the weekend retreat are the sacraments, through which our teens experience God s loving mercy, forgiveness, and presence amongst them as they worship and proclaim their love for our God. The cost of the weekend is $215 p.p. Some of our parishioners have expressed an interest in helping to support these young people. If anyone would like to support their retreat, your donations would be graciously accepted. We would welcome your prayers for the success of this missionary opportunity for the youth in our Parish. For questions, call our Youth Minister Maggie Seaver at the rectory (860) 529-2533. Thank you for your support to our youth! Thank you for the donating to Catholic Communications Campaign last weekend. There is a House of Bread collection this weekend. Coffee & sugar are requested.

Page Four The Most Holy Trinity..May 22, 2016 A Weekly Bible Study Trinity Sunday All Readings Sometimes we find it hard to believe that God really has a plan! Our world often seems aimless and rudderless as it courses through history, as do we, treading our difficult paths. A golden thread running through today s four readings offers us some insight into God s grand and glorious designs. Wisdom, often personified, speaks first. Existing even before the created world, she partners with God to bring life into being. Much more than merely order from chaos, God s plan unfolds with wisdom as his craftsman. All that would come to be, including humankind, would be shaped by her. Jesus opens our hearts gradually to the Father s infinite wisdom when he tells his disciples: I have much more to tell you but you cannot bear it now. It has been said that if God revealed everything to us at once we could not endure it. As the Letter to the Hebrews alludes, God reveals his nature and plan of salvation to us in fragmentary ways. Little by little, we come to know him, his saving works, his gracious mercy, so as to share in the fullness of his glory. But only in time. In the meantime, we are content simply to rest in the knowledge that God, in his infinite wisdom, indeed has a plan and it unfolds miraculously in this very moment. Weekly Reflection for the Year of Mercy The psalmist joins the chorus of praise showcasing man as the pinnacle of creation. But more than that, this creature is deeply connected to his creator. Lady wisdom will walk hand in hand with us in our continuing, lifelong quest for God. Paul s message to the Romans echoes the theme of God s loving design for his creatures. Justified (saved) by faith and enfolded by grace, we move in harmony with God s plan toward a hope of glory. Paul even sanctifies our suffering, placing our afflictions within an unfolding of this loving plan. To give drink to the thirsty calls us to be mindful of those around us who need drink: an outside worker on a cold or hot day, those who are aged/infirm and unable to secure drink on their own, the intubated patient whose lips are parched, the crying infant, the child who cannot reach the water fountain, the visitor or traveler who knocks on our door, the homeless person we encounter on our streets. We are also called to be environmentally aware, resourceful and not wasteful with water. We may extend this work of mercy to those who are thirsting among us for an embrace, a kind word, a listening ear, an imparting of our wisdom.

Page Five The Most Holy Trinity..May 22, 2016 The Lord has risen; It is true! Proclaim it to the world! What is God asking of me? He may be asking you to serve as a priest or religious. If you hear his voice, call Fr. Jeffrey Gubbiotti, Director of Vocations, Archdiocesan Center at Saint Thomas Seminary, Tel. 860-242-5573, email vocations@aohct.org or visit the web at www.vocationshartford.org. Join us at The Church of the Incarnation the 1st Friday of the month at 9:30am, Blessed Sacrament Chapel, for Vocations Holy Hour. ATTENTION: FOR YOUR INFO: We have an Automated External Defibrillator machine available at Incarnation Church. It is located inside the room by the west wing, next to the confession rooms. There is an AED locator sign above the door. (The AED is located inside the room on the wall.) If you are certified in CPR & trained to use a Automated External Defibrillator call Audrey at (860) 529-2533 to keep a list of people who are up to date on their certification. Our unit incorporates an interactive video display and is very user friendly with voice activation. We have been advised to first call 911 in an emergency. 2016 Archbishop s Annual Appeal: This weekend is Commitment Weekend! We pray for the success of the Appeal and for the programs that your generosity make possible. Archbishop s Annual Appeal has surpassed the 8,500,000 goal with a participation rate of only 19% across the Archdiocese! ABC s of Catholic Relief Services Almost 800 million people still lack clean water. Three times as many do not have adequate sanitation. Is it a wonder babies die from dehydration and malnutrition? Clean water stops toddlers diarrhea immediately. Your agency works hard to bring clean water in some of the toughest environments on earth, like Ethiopia s Ogaden Desert. Our next goal is to reach 25% participation! Thank you to the parish families who have made a gift or pledge to the 2016 Archbishop s Annual Appeal. If you have not yet participated, please prayerfully consider doing so. For information, please visit: www.archdioceseofhartford.org/archbishopsannual-appeal. www.facebook.com/archdioceseofhartford We have two candles located in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. The Sanctuary Light enclosed in red glass burns to signify that the Blessed Sacrament is present in the Tabernacle in the Chapel. The Blessed Virgin Mary Candle is mounted on the wall near the Blessed Virgin Mary Statue.

Page Six The Most Holy Trinity..May 22, 2016 JOURNEY OF FAITH We are on a long and eventful journey. Today s readings for Trinity Sunday succinctly cover the depth and breadth of our human travels. The very beginnings of our journey are revealed in the reading from Proverbs. God s plan filled with divine wisdom was born before the earth was made. In today s Gospel, Jesus speaks of his own personal journey. He has come from the Father and will return to the Father. Only then will the Advocate the Spirit of Truth take us onward. This does not diminish the fact that the journey will be hard. The very setting of the Gospel is the night before Jesus died. As Saint Paul writes to the Romans, [W]e even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope (Romans 5:3-4). Ultimately, our human journey is modeled by the Holy Trinity a family of love among Father, Son, and Spirit that we are all called to emulate. TODAY S READINGS First Reading Before anything was created, the wisdom of God was brought forth (Proverbs 8:22-31). Psalm O Lord, our God, how wonderful your name in all the earth! (Psalm 8). Second Reading God s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us (Romans 5:1-5). Gospel Everything that the Father has is mine; the Spirit will take from what is mine and declare it to you (John 16:12-15).
