Grand Knight s Message The month of December was very busy for our council. We had our annual breakfast with Santa at Sacred Heart. I am going to say that it was a tremendous success. Many thanks to Brother Robert Konzal and his wife who spearheaded the event. Also, many thanks to our brother knight, Santa Claus, who traveled from the north pole to attend this event. In addition, many thanks to all of our brother knights who helped put this event together. Brother Briski arrived at the breakfast with some gifts that were donated by some friends of his at Fedex. This truly reflects the Christmas spirit. Many thanks to Rich Briski and our friends at Fedex. Our adult Christmas party was held at Sacred Heart. It was well attended and we all had fun. Many thanks to Brother Tom Kuehn for spearheading the event and arranging for the entertainment. Also, I would like to thank Brother Dennis Drahos for leading a sing along to close the evening. We proceeded to our chambers for a spirited game of Jeopardy. Deacon Matthew Flatley has returned to Jefferson City, MO to be ordained as a priest. His ordination was December 15, 2012. Congratulations to Father Flatley and brother knight. Good luck and many blessings for the new year. Fraternally, If anyone knows of a Brother that is ill, in distress, or who has passed on, please contact the Grand Knight or Financial Secretary. Thank you. Bro. Dennis Rakowski has been at the Golden Living Center, 5404 W. Loomis Road, Greendale. A card or visit would be very much appreciated. Bro. Pat McCreery is recouping from knee surgery. Bro. Henry Lisiecki is on the mend from a health alert. Keep all our Brother Knights in your prayers. Charity And Unity 1 st And 2 nd Degree Scheduled For Thursday, January 17. Reminder Fraternal Survey Due The Fraternal Survey was included in the December Tempo. It isn t so much that we fill it out for our own benefit. Rather it is something needed to maintain a tax exempt status with the IRS. The survey was the 2011 form, however; it will still work for the 2012. Thank you for your help with this important matter. www.trinitycouncil4580.com

Chaplain s Corner The saints of the Church are often depicted in many statues or paintings and often, it is left up to our imaginations to who exactly these saints are if we are unfamiliar with what they are famous for. The second and third weekends in Advent are focused on John the Baptist. Now John is easy to identify in a statue. John will always be portrayed with his arm and finger extended in a pointing gesture. That was John s only mission he pointed to the Messiah. We call him the forerunner of Christ. We prepare ourselves every Advent through this special time the Church blocks off for us to spiritually prepare for Christ to be born in the world as a remembrance, but also to prepare the way of the Lord ourselves for the second coming of Christ. We should see this time as a retreat and blessing from the Lord. It takes time to prepare to be that forerunner of Christ to be effective. It really is the mission of the Church to be the new John the Baptist to the world. We are the ones carrying on that mission. It is our mission to point to Christ and show off to the world the salvation of the human race. Every day, God showers us with blessings of love, comfort, mercy, forgiveness, the air we breathe; you name it. It is God who expects us in return to extend those blessings to others with our love, mercy, and compassion to the least of our brothers and sisters. I speak to the choir here as that is the mission of the Knights also. How good of a world we would live in if this message was understood by all the world s inhabitants. I guess every year we have a day where the world hears about Jesus on most airwaves for free with all sorts of Christmas wishes although many have turned to Holiday wishes but the message of God s love hopefully hits more hearts. May we do our part in wishing all we see a Merry and blessed Christmas and I pray that this year is the same for you. God Bless you,, Fr. Mark Fr. Mark Brandl Congratulations to these Brother Knights Who are Celebrating Birthdays in January: Ermin H. Humpal Daniel W. Knippel John F. Castro Gary M. VonBargen Thomas F. Charity Requests: TEMPO The Charity Committee reviewed and recommended approval of funds for the following : I hope you will take time to discern the suggestions Thank you! $250.00 to Life s Connection: a local pro-life group whom we have been observing and in contact with since their organization one year ago. There are several district members of the Knights of Columbus involved first hand, and one of the goals of Life s Connection is to eventually raise funds to purchase an ultra sound machine for the center. Supreme Council of the Knights of Columbus offers incentives for councils to help with the purchase of this life saving machine $100.00 to the St. Vincent DePaul Society: $50.00 to Heather Ann Periard Miss Wisconsin Teen. A Franklin resident who is currently a senior at Heritage Christian School. Recommended highly by current Deputy Grand Knight Ken Skowronski to help her defray the cost of her reign. We hope to invite Miss Periard to council functions and activities as permitted. 5 www.trinitycouncil4580.com
