Elinsky A CHRISTMAS MESSAGE As we reflect back to that first Christmas and as we celebrate our first Christmas together in our new church, we recall that God came among us in the Word made Flesh Jesus Christ. The Scriptures of Advent have foretold the prophecy of Emmanuel-God with us. Christmas celebrates the prophecy fulfilled. It is a time of spiritual rebirth. May all the blessings of Christmas be yours. CHRISTMAS BLESSING May the Christmas season neither rush nor crush you. May it snow only when you want it to. May Christ s peace be the best gift you receive this Christmas. May your children be surprised by at least one amazing Christmas gift, but get what they need and enjoy what they get. And may the Lord Jesus be born under your tree, in your heart, and in the lives of all those you meet and greet this Christmas. Amen (Andrew Costello) As we celebrate this Feast of the Lord s Nativity, I pray that the blessings of Christmas be as rich and as endless as Jesus love. May our lives truly make visible to others the love of Jesus Christ. On behalf of Sr. Judith, Sr. Dolores Ann, the parish staff and myself, I wish you the peace, love and joy of this holy season of Christmas that comes to us through the gift of God in Jesus Christ. He became what we are that He might make us what He is. (Athanasius of Alexandria) Christmas Blessings, Father Bob

FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT DECEMBER 23, 2012 CHRISTMAS MASS SCHEDULE CHRISTMAS EVE 4:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. (Children s Choir) 10:00 P.M. (Adult Choir) CHRISTMAS DAY 9:00 A.M. 11:00 A.M. (Adult Choir) FAMILY CONNECTION In the encounter between Mary and Elizabeth described in today's Gospel, we learn that other people can help us recognize God's presence and action in our lives. Mary traveled to see Elizabeth because Elizabeth's pregnancy was a sign that everything the angel told Mary would truly happen. Elizabeth recognized Mary as the mother of her Lord because her unborn child, John the Baptist, leapt at the sound of Mary's greeting. Elizabeth and Mary rejoiced together at the wonderful things God was doing in their lives. We too are blessed when we have people who help us recognize God's action in our lives. We pray that our family can be this for one another. As you gather as a family, work together on a word search or hidden-picture puzzle. Help one another until everyone has found each of the words or pictures in the puzzle. Talk about this experience, noticing how some people found words or pictures more easily than others and how easy it was to see the word or picture once someone else pointed it out. Observe that sometimes we need the help of others to recognize God's presence and action in our lives. Read together today's Gospel, Luke 1:39-45. Ask: What did Elizabeth recognize about Mary? (that she was to be the mother of Jesus, the Lord) How did Elizabeth know this? (Her baby, John the Baptist, leapt with joy at Mary's greeting) Pray together that as we share our faith together as a family, we may help one another recognize God's presence and action in our lives. Pray together the Hail Mary. (Loyola Press) SECOND COLLECTION FOR CHILDREN & YOUTH ON CHRISTMAS DAY For a number of years on Christmas Day, a special second collection has been taken to support programs and services for Children and Youth. The program and services for children and youth provided by the Diocese are one of the important ways in which we, like Jesus, try to meet their needs. The proceeds of this second collection will be credited toward our 2012 Parish Share. I ask that you be as generous as you can to support this special second collection. May God bless you! PARISH SHARE 2012 Your Help is Needed to Reach our Goal! Remember, if we exceed our PSP goal, we can use the excess funds to support our own parish projects and ministries. Help us surpass our goal. Whatever you can do will be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Our Assessment Goal $112,283.00 Monies Received $ 91,967.00 Amount Still Needed $ 20,316.00

The birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ is celebrated at Christmas and establishes Christmas as the season of gift-giving. Please consider a gift to the Christmas Eve & Day collection that will not only support our educational, spiritual and parish ministries, but also positively affect your taxes and other financial considerations for 2012. Sharing your blessings through a generous gift at Christmas will make this world just a little better because you made a difference while you were here. You make a Catholic Gift of Faith and Love.
