Youth Ministry Update Fall 2017

A New STYL St. Timothy is excited to unleash a new style of Youth Ministry this year. For years St. Tims Youth Ministry has been know as STYL (St. Timothy Youth Leaders) but we have decided to join the movement of Life Teen for our Middle School and High School programs. This is something that our Youth Ministry has already been accustom to. Our popular High School retreats and summer camps are modeled after Life Teen. Many students come off the retreats and the camps on fire for God. Our Mission as a Eucharistic-centered movement within the Roman Catholic Church, Life Teen youth ministry and faith formation, leads teenagers and their families into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. With the Blessed Virgin Mary as our intercessor and guide, Life Teen seeks to unleash the fullness of the Sacramental power present within the Young Church. Life Teen is proud to provide Confirmation preparation, opportunities to serve at Mass, Eucharistic adoration, discipleship groups lead by adult and parent mentors, service opportunities, retreats, community and fellowship events, integration into the life of other parish ministries, camps and weekly Life Nights following our Sunday 5:30pm evening contemporary Mass. Gatherings are held in the John Paul II Youth Center that offers a lively and engaging youth space that fosters the arts, sports and many other gifts students bring to the program. Be sure to check out our main meeting space, The JPII Underground located in the Youth Center. We meet the goals as identified by the Conference of Catholic Bishops of the United States in the Renewing The Vision documents on Youth Ministry. Within the Life Teen program is EDGE, our new Middle School Ministry that meets on Wednesday nights 6:45pm-8:15pm through the Fall and Spring Semester. It provides a safe fun place for youth to find solid Catholic community, to get answers to their questions about faith, and, most importantly, to experience Jesus in a profound and personal way. Edge resources speak to the physical, psychological, cognitive, relational, and spiritual maturation of middle school youth. The resources present Catholic teaching in a way that young people can understand. Edge answers the needs of this age group in a catechetical, fun, and relevant way and provides a foundation for youth to continue onto Life Teen. We pray our Young Church and families will be inspired not just by this new style of Youth Ministry but ultimately by Christ and His love for each of us. God is good! We give Him all our passion, our heart, our lives, and our dreams to go out and live His mission. FOLLOW Group @Sttims_LT @Sttims_LT US St Tims Life Teen

How can parents and other volunteers get involved? Food Ministry On Sunday evenings we intentionally feed our High School students before we start on Sunday night. This is not done just to get food in their stomachs, but we recognize the need for them to sit around a dinner table together with their mentors as an important Text The Word: STLT To: 84576 To Get Youth Ministry Text Message Updates part of the ministry to build relationships. Food is prepared by a group of parents or other parish ministries, such as our Men s Club who provides dinner once a month. Becoming A Mentor Youth Ministry is predominately made up of our mentors. Our mentors develop and plan our Youth Ministry Nights and are part catechist, part cheerleader, and part sympathetic ear for the students. Mentors commit to either Sunday nights with High School Students or Wednesday nights with our Middle School Students. We are always in need of adult and parent mentors to commit each year for our fall and spring semesters. In the summer we invite our college students to join the mentor team for the summer semester. Retreat Team Lifeteen and EDGE are also in need of leaders who can help plan and implement our Youth Ministry Retreats. These are overnight retreats that help lead students to encounter Christ in a special way. Other Ways To Help We are always looking for helping hands who are good doing behind the scenes set up, clean up meals, build environments, send out birthday cards, help in the office and run our café in the Youth Center. Prayer Most importantly, we need committed volunteers to pray for our students. Anybody can do this from wherever you are however; we would like to coordinate with those who pray for our students so that we can share the student s specific prayer requests with our prayer warriors. There are so many things that our students need prayer for and the more volunteers we are able to get to pray for our students the more grace will be poured out into this ministry. For more information about these ministries, please contact Justin Lantz, Director of Youth Ministry at justin.lantz@sainttims.org or Jennifer Linder, Youth Ministry Coordinator at jen.linder@sainttims.org. We are always looking for willing hearts to join us! College Student Summer Mentors leading a game of slip n slide kickball. Summer time is all about playing hard and PRAYING harder!!!
