THIS MONTHS MISSION FEATURE Contributing hugely to this success is the fact that we have envisioned and mobilised more than 154,000 local churches, inspiring our Christian family to be catalysts for change. We re Christians passionate about ending poverty. We're following Jesus where the need is greatest, working through local churches to unlock people's potential and helping them to discover that the answer to poverty is within themselves. When disasters strike, we respond quickly. We won't stop until poverty stops. We have spoken up with many poor communities, and acted on their behalf, and seen more than 300 policies influenced and changed as a result. We pray that our joint advocacy will bring a rich harvest in reducing poverty further over the next decade. Read our tenyear Impact and learning report. In 2006, we set an ambitious target: we launched a ten-year vision to see 50 million people lifted out of material and spiritual poverty through a worldwide network of 100,000 local churches. A decade on, the statistics are striking. In ten years, we have touched the lives of more than 45 million people the equivalent of almost the population of Spain. We reached more than 32 million people through our community development work and more than 13 million through our response to disasters. We work in over 35 countries around the world with over 500 partner organisations which includes local churches. Our key strategic areas are supporting church and community transformation; ensuring environmental and economic sustainability; and working in fragile states. When the church unites, anything is possible and we have evidence from across the world of churches and their communities changing the future positively. Tearfund turned 50 of 29 th May 2018! This is our Jubilee year. In 50 years we've seen millions of lives restored. But with your help there's more we can do. How will you join us in 2018?

We are calling for churches around the world to Pray, Act and Give. For more information https://www.tearfund.org/en/ wewontstop/ Pray: Be part of one million prayers raised to overcome extreme poverty Act: Get involved in 50,000 actions taken to overcome extreme poverty Give: Help release five million lives from material and spiritual poverty We have a prayer on our website written by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, which is calling us to pray for an end to poverty. Gracious and generous God, you became poor so that we might be enriched by your love, and you gave the world s wealth and resources as a common inheritance of all human beings. We pray you will strengthen your church to be a beacon of hospitality for the poor. We pray that, seeing the light of Christ s love, the nations and peoples of the world may fight not to kill, but to outdo one another in care for the poor, and in actions of gracious generosity. Through Him who for our sakes did not grasp the wealth of heaven, but instead gave all to live for us as a slave, and die for us in pain, Jesus Christ our risen Lord and Saviour. Amen Loose Collections Every loose collection will be shared amongst our mission partners. This week we are focusing our prayers on Tearfund. If you would like to give to the Church and not to the current mission partner please use the appropriate envelope: either a Gift Aid one or a nontaxpayer's one. Non-taxpayers please note: under the Gift Aid Small Donor Scheme (GASDS) the Church can claim gift aid on cash donations of 20 or less, no details are required. Please ask a Church Warden if you cannot find the correct envelope. If you have a notice... All events, ministries or notices for publication in any of our media should go to office@trinitylewes.org Please note that the deadline for the notice sheet is Wednesday 9am. Please note Monday is the Clergy, Youth Minister s and Children s Minister s day-off, and Friday is Janette Watkins day-off (Pastoral Minister) so they are not available on those days except for emergencies. Safeguarding We take the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults seriously. Therefore if you have any concerns please speak to any of our Lead or Deputy Safeguarding Representatives: Jane Lee is our Lead representative, supported by Amanda Burgess who is Deputy Safeguarding Representative for Children; and Jenni Taylor who is Deputy Safeguarding Representative for Vulnerable Adults.
