Irish Council 9529 "The Raise the Roof Fun Festival will be here next weekend! Next Saturday, July 14th, is the planned date for this annual event. We are asking all Knights to make themselves available to support the parish and Fr. Sebasty by helping out in the different areas where help is always needed. During the past several years, the Knights have prepared and cooked the food at the grill. We are the grilling experts so let s not let the parish down! We also need some strong hands and wrists to shuck some corn. Yes, the corn on the cob with special seasoning has been a true hit each year. The delicious hamburger/cheeseburgers are a must at a picnic type event. We always do the best in town! Let s make sure that we have our food handler s cards if we will prepare and cook meals. If no food handler s card, then there are many other areas where you can help out.

Page 5 Rummage Sale 2018 At our June meeting, we set the date of the rummage sale for Friday and Saturday September 14/15th. We are not going to do any more Sunday rummage sales. Once again, we will do it from the garage on Inlet Ave. Hopefully, we will be able to discuss this further at the July meeting. Proposed Raffle Fizzles The idea of having a raffle sale fizzled after discussing the event with the State Charities President, Past State Deputy Bob Kish. There are too many hoops and IRS rules to go through, plus cost of licenses required for each person who would sell a raffle ticket. Another part is that we are a 501(C8) Fraternal Organization and that brings in more problems with trying to have a raffle. Suffice it to say we don t want to go there. It has been recommended that our Chairman, Joe Little, contact the donor of the articles to return them to him. We, as not a charity can not provide a receipt for donated items to be a tax write off only a 501(C3) group that is non-fraternal charity can do that. Last weekend, your FS was in Klamath Falls attending the Annual Organizational Meeting for State Officers and District Deputies. One of the big take aways was the change from Church, Community, Culture of Life, Council, Family and Youth. That is now consolidated into the 4 groups listed below. This will reduce the number of positions within the Knights of Columbus at the state and local level as well.
