June 3, 2018 Bible Story Focus: The Bible shows me the way. The Bible Shows the Way Psalm 119:105 Memory Verse: Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow. Psalm 25:4, NLT Key Question: What tells you which way to go? Bottom Line: The Bible tells me which way to go. Basic Truth: God made me. God loves me. Jesus wants to be my friend forever. Social: Providing Time for Fun Interaction 1. Follow the Leader Made to Move: An activity that uses a preschooler s natural desire to move to help them learn What You Need: A flashlight Before the Activity: Gather the children to line up single file in an open area of the room. Dim the lights if possible. During the Activity: Explain that you will play Follow the Leader around the classroom. Shine the flashlight on the floor to show them the way to go. Lead the children all the way around the room and then select another child as the leader. Continue selecting new leaders for each round as long as time and interest allow. Before the Activity: Today, I thought it would be fun to play Follow the Leader. Do you see my handy flashlight? (Hold up flashlight.) I m going to shine this light to show us the way to go. Follow me! After the Activity: Great job, everyone! You were great leaders and great followers. I m so glad we had this light to show us the way to go. In our Bible story today, we ll find out how the Bible always shows us where to go. I can t wait for you to hear it. Transition: Move to Worship and Story by continuing to lead the children with the flashlight all the way to your Large Group space. 2. Four Corners Made to Play: An activity that encourages preschoolers to follow guidelines while having fun and learning new concepts What You Need: Colored construction paper (red, yellow, green, and blue; 2 of each color) and wall tape Before the Activity: Tape the four pieces of the construction paper (one of each color) with the wall tape in the four corners of the room. Fan out the other four pages on the floor (or place the color die) in the center of the room. During the Activity: Call on one child to select a color from the pages on the floor (or roll the color die) and lead the group to find that color in the room. Once the children are in that corner, call out an action for them to perform from the list below. Then have the children return to the center of the room and repeat with the remaining colors. Jumping jacks March in place Hug your neighbor Give a friend a high-five Knee bends Touch your toes Jog in place Flex your muscles After the Activity: Collect all the colored paper as you call the children back to the center of the room. Before the Activity: Hey, friends! Do you see the different colors I ve hung up in the corners of the room? (Point.) Raise your hand and tell me one color you see. (Call on different children to name the four colors.) Awesome! Yes, I see red, yellow, green, and blue and those same colors are here in this stack [or on this die] too. Each of you will have a chance to draw a color [or roll the die] from the stack. The cards will tell us where to go. So, when a color is drawn, let s all travel to that corner of the room. When we get there, I ll give you an action to perform. Are you ready? After the Activity: Great job, everyone! The cards told us the way to go! Today, we will learn about how the Bible teaches us the way to go. I can t wait for you to hear all about it. Let s go! Transition: Move to Worship and Story by leading the children to repeat different motions (you can use the same list as above) as you walk to your Large Group space.
