From Ken Ken s Korner - Ken Reid, Pastor WOW I don t know where to start! God is so good, all the time, but recently the Lord has been pouring out blessings after blessings in our church family. We have welcomed many new members into our fellowship and will celebrate baptism at the lake during our annual church picnic on September 8 th. I hope that everyone is planning to attend our annual picnic. See elsewhere for details about what to bring. We will set up our usual games of horse shoes and corn hole and will have sign-up sheets in the hallway for both in advance. Church Council... We have implemented a Church Council process of calendar planning that has already met twice and made great strides. You will be able to pick up a tentative copy of some of our events through the New Year by this Sunday. Church Council will meet on the 1 st Sunday night of each month beginning in November. They will meet next on September 29 th (rather than October 6 th ). The Church Council is recommending the following changes to our Sunday night program. CrossWalk, Awana etc., will continue at the 5:30 p.m. hour. Then following at 6:30 p.m. they are recommending the following emphasis: 1 st Sunday WMU, CARE, Committee Meetings etc. 2 nd Sunday Sunday Singing a variety of music opportunities 3 rd Sunday Family Fellowship with games and interactions 4 th Sunday Missions Emphasis with groups spending 30 minutes sharing their mission and ministry. These new emphasis will begin in October. Church Wide Workday We are setting up a yard work day for Saturday, September 7 th, 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Rain check days will be each Saturday until we can get this done. A sign-up sheet for various needs can be found in the church or you can just show up to be a helper. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided. Come help us put our yard in order for the fall. Sign-up sheets for the following can be found in the church: Golden Fellowship Shoney s Breakfast Trip for September 19 th. Bus Transportation to the Crusade each night September 15-18. Golden Fellowship Leaf Trip Thursday, October 17 th. Yard Workday Saturday, September 7 th Corn Hole and Horseshoe Contest at Annual Church Picnic

125 th Anniversary of WMU 1888-2013 Celebration for Beaverdam Baptist Association March 8, 2014 5:00 P.M. College St. Baptist Church, Walhalla A scrapbook will be created to honor the history of WMU in BBA. WE NEED PICTURES OF PEOPLE EVENTS, CAMPS AND ORIGINAL CHURCH BUILDINGS. THIS WILL BE GIVEN TO THE ASSO- CAITIONAL OFFICE BY JANUARY 6, 2014. Pictures will be scanned and returned. May also be turned in to the church office. This scrapbook will be displayed at the Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland, June 8-9, 2014. Please give any pictures to Debbie Rukat or Sharon McManamy. If you know of pictures from the past and are not able to bring them to church, call 638-6717 for pick up. This should include WMU, GA, RA, etc. THANK YOU NOTES Dear College Street Baptist Church, Thank you for your prayers and your acts of kindness to our family during Dad s decline in health and his death on July 23. We realize how important our church family is to us during times like these. Children & Youth Ministries - Tim Shaw, Minister of There s a lot coming up (and more on the way!); so, take a look and mark your calendars! Men s Ministry Youth Shooting Event Saturday, September 21, 2013 Depart church at 9:30 a.m. Arrive at site around 10:00 a.m. We will shoot until 12:30 and then have lunch. Shooting will resume around 1:00 p.m. and last until 3:00 p.m. or so. Youth will take turns shooting 22 caliber firearms at targets ranging up to 100 yards in distance. Each youth will have an experienced adult shooter from Men s Ministry with them when shooting to coach and guide them as they shoot. Cost: $10 per person to cover the cost of ammunition and food. Location to be determined. Family Fall Celebration Can you believe it s only ten weeks away?!? It is scheduled for October 27 th from 5 p.m. 7 p.m. More information will be coming soon.
